Thanks for the photos from Yellow Lake Glacier.

What is the yellow float thing for? How does the slide site on the other side of the road look? I’m guessing its been determined that everything is stable now?

Good to see what’s going on but it looks like it will be a few days before its all fixed up.

Travelled down to Penticton twice in last few days and noticed a large sunken dip on the 4 lane section, its quite some dip heading southbound and certainly makes you bounce. Today there are warning signs of uneven highway and a warning to slow up so how long before this section goes? It is across all 4 lanes as far as i can tell seems worse southbound at present but blacktop cracking is evident northbound!

What's the big deal with the trucks not being allowed to use the detour? Huge logging trucks travel those same roads all the time. Or is it just whiny locals?

PS: the washout happened where the fire was the other summer, amirite?

Highways maintenance have pumped the backed up water out a couple of times. Why did they not unplug the culvert if that was the problem?

Better hope that Goudie and Cardinal Creek roads hold up to all the extra traffic.

ANOTHER ONE on Hwy 3A.

Mudslides cause delays

Another mudslide has blocked Highway 3A between Castlegar and Creston, the highway is closed in both directions.

The slide is located 2 kilometres east of Brilliant.

Crews are on scene assessing the situation right now, so far there is no estimated time of opening and there is no detour available.

Highway 1 is also closed in both directions because of debris on the road, 20 kilometres west of Revelstoke.

There is no detour available or estimated time of opening at this time.

Travellers are advised to check with DriveBC before heading out on highways, especially in the interior.

That's about size of VW bug, good thing no ones was under it when it hit the road.

Off topic comment:
In elementary school we went on field trip to ghost town at 3 Valley Gap & Last Spike location (almost forgot fun part of field trip we also stopped at the enchanted forest... fun for us kids). The owner of restaurant & motel told us kids to just get TV reception the antenna was atop the mountain across road (this was long before satellite dishes). Hell of a hike if wind blew antenna off signal.

Here is the Summerland-Princeton wash out. I travel that road at least twice a year and it is one damned beautiful drive to Princeton, or back.

I hope those people are doing better.

If there woulda been a banjo playing in the background with a narrator explaining their predicament, they woulda made that jump easy.
