Ideas for next year so far:

More for kids.
Gear for women. Not that there wasn't a jewelry booth, I was like :135:
Safety Booth: showing items off like SPOT, whistles, how to use GPS seminars, cell phone chargers and a couple of books showing news articles on how people used their gear or were found. I would also include mapbooks, which BackRoad Mapbooks had a booth but in the safety booth, the emphasis would be how they can save you.

I have a reflective safety vest that I throw over my gear if I'm out for a stroll. They make them for dogs too.

That would be another item in the safety booth. Reflective vests and for dogs too.
ETA: Speaking of dogs

I see more dogs off leash on trails than I care to count. Dear Dog owner: Yes, you feel like you are in control of your dog via voice commands, but have you tested that with a coyote or bear around? Just saying. I think the safety booth would include dog outdoor etiquette.

More items would be?

Trudeau just called.

Next year the event will be known as the "Outdoor Sportsperson Show."

Gad I hope not - I'm quite okay with "Sportsman Show" or Sports Show - it's not just about the persons when there are so many animals and fish involved.

lol - you forgot the waterfowl, hunting birds and fish. I noticed no hunting dogs there either.

Let's not forget the falconry/hawking hunting.

Was there any information on docks there? I didn't see a thing. Another missed opportunity?

Is it still PC to call it a "Sportsman" show?

I always enjoyed the retriever trials and I realize space is limited but you'd think there would be someone out there who own working dogs that would love the opportunity to show off what their dogs can do even in a small space. Even videos for those interested in getting started.

That would move the venue to the outdoors, the fields maybe. Good idea. Add retrieving and herding.

Maybe "how to" as well, how to build a teepee, a fire for emergencies, the importance of having a small hatchet in the truck? First Aid kit? Extra bullets?

What about if you hit a deer with your vehicle? the do's and don't's of what to do would be invaluable. Where does the meat go? Does the hide get donated to a fish and game club? A tanner? Who to call for tanning? Indigneous club? Friendship Club downtown? Who?

Conservation officer? What does one do?

One should know to report hitting wildlife. RCMP get calls about deer getting hit on the highway. There were a couple of booths there that could have handled that information.

Did they though? :135: Maybe put some leading questions up on a board and see what people know and don't know.

Answer questions from there. How many go to a show like this with that kind of question at the top of their mind?

BC Conservation had a large table and they had a jar of the mussels to watch for. Also had container for licence, regs and a couple of other items. I don't recall seeing any "Bear Aware" signs though.
