You worried a squirrel will take your dog? Now that would be a wuss.

At least some people were appreciative.
Other people commenting on the post thanked Nestman for alerting them, as they were planning on heading out with their dogs.

You get a pack of coyotes after your mutts, you'd be hard pressed to save them.

It was good of her to warn people. Could be deadly for your dog otherwise.

Well, basic common sense should dictate if one is planning to hike in the mountains. One may come across wildlife, so either have your pet on a leash or don't even take them with you.
If you do go off leash be prepared for the possible consequences, wild animals don't know what a family pet is.... they do know easy prey.
When you have to start compromising yourself and your morals for the people around you, it’s probably time to change the people around you.

Coyotes move around so I can understand those that let their dogs off leash for some exercise would use a little more common sense knowing there is current activity. This warning was a courtesy that shouldn't be negated. Comparing coyotes to squirrels is demeaning.

I've taken my kids for walks but I certainly appreciated the warning there was a cougar in the area. They pass through so it wasn't long before I took my kids out again. If I hear coyotes in the park I pass the info on as people do become complacent. There is no shame in posting the information only in shaming those that post it.

The problem with posting on a news site is: that by the time it has been written up, the coyote has moved on to another area. The warning is useless.
I often hear multiple "voices" of coyotes nearby, and I live near Dilworth Mtn. keep your pets inside, especially your cats, as they have a tendency to roam from home.

A single coyote has circled one that's on a long leash so more than one can inflict a lot of damage in a short span of time.

I am thinking we might need these coyotes, and as close to the city as possible. We need something to control the deer population.

With social media today, it's a good thing to warn people they heard a coyote and where.

Tsayta, I know what you mean by "what's next, a squirrel..."

Sure she should know that there are coyotes out there, but there's nothing like proof, and with sound too.

And weren't we talking about dogs outdoors earlier Fancy?

The deer have been moving into neighbourhoods so clearly the coyotes aren't doing their job.

The deer dine out at Chez QK al fresco so often I might invite a hunter to hang out in the gardens. Just kidding.
