No one gets hurt by a coyote. You have a 50000% higher chance of getting hurt by a tick or a post on Castanet than a cute coyote.

Neighbors dog sounds exactly the same.
Maybe he was calling out a warning that there were bears ahead.
Bears seem to have " vanished" from our park here.. I wonder if they were "relocated"

But dogs get lured away and eaten by them all the time... wasn't the video to warn dog owners?

I've lived in the bush for years with coyotes all around. My mom still lives there. Never a problem. It's extremely rare.

Rare in your area then but that's not where we are talking about and you're missing the point. This was a friendly neighbourly "heads up" that has been made fun of. There have been many incidents of coyote/dog encounters recorded and dogs treated at vets. I know of many incidents that did not end up favourably for the pet so it's hardly a "rare" thing.

Yes and it was a neighbourly thing to do.

Keep dogs on a leash. Easy. Aw heck, some kids need to be leashed, too.

I agree. Nice of them to let people know who were heading to the area with their animals.

And to reiterate these attacks are NOT rare:
While animal attacks are common, Dr. Oz recommends pet owners always keep their animals close and in sight.

None of the attacks mentioned above are the ones I know of personally. Think of all the ones that don't make the media.

Fair enough, but if you keep your dog on a leash like you should, you won't have this problem. You you get yourself a bigger dog. My mom's dog hasn't ever had a coyote encounter, but he did run into pack of wolves, and kicked the s*** out of the wolves. Well, he never actually had physical blows, but stood them down, and they ran off.

As I mentioned before, getting a bigger dog doesn't mean safety for the littler one. A coyote jumped a fence, grabbed a little dog and made it back over before the bigger dog or owner could do anything.

A conservation officer has destroyed a coyote that he believes was one of three that attacked a woman and a dog in B.C.'s Okanagan region this week.
