Nobody in today's world is ever going to be happy about their wage, but life goes on. If we want more pay we need to find a better paying job. If you choose not to further your career then you should be willing to live with the wage you currently have.
Make a career change & get the rewards, stay the course...well that is your choice so don't complain about the wage. There are ample opportunities out their for jobs, courses to take. Incentives by the government or grants or help from WorkBC if you want.
Don't just say I have done this for X years I should make Y $, it doesn't work that way.

I think it's sad any of the reporters or so-called journalist covering the story can't dig a Little Deeper themselves and try and get more of the picture. Yes they talk to one lady that's only making $15 plus an hour and that's not enough to live on she says but why didn't they ask her how much she makes in tips every night. I've had at least three very close friends out of worked at the casino and won for more than 8 years. There were many days he said his tips were larger than his actual wage. So all of a sudden that $15 an hour job you're actually making 25 to 30 an hour. That doesn't sound too bad to me when you factor in most dealers work 45 minutes on and then get a 15 minute break. Come on reporters if you want to call yourself that try and get more of the story and don't just print whatever one person you talk to in line says cuz we all know what they're going to say. If you don't like your job don't work there. unions do nothing but take your money and protect bad workers.
You don't learn when you are talking. You can only learn while you're listening.

Why would I do that...Fact is its just another lower tier job wanting a raise. If people stopped going to the casino they wouldn't even have a job. I guess its the thrill of being in the moment of gambling that keeps people going their to spend money vs just playing online.

Uh huh .... I'd like to know how much that "tip pool" is worth every week..
I'm gonna say it right here , right now .
I have NO empathy for an employee of any industry that receives gratuities then *bleep* about how little they make per hour without the consideration of said grats...
Now I'll go find the link to the story of the 15 year employee of the casino who only makes 15 bucks an hour ... WITHOUT disclosing how much that tip pool is worth.
cry me a river ...
So that's $ 15.21 per hour plus how much ???

Blah Blah Blah, I don’t see any problem with a person making a decent wage regardless where they work. These Casinos rake in tons of money and it’s cash cow and a business to print money.
No I don’t work there and many people like to get out and have fun instead of just sitting at home playing games in their underwear.

Having wrote my own paycheck for quite a while. Working a lot sometimes and not enough at other times. I for the life of me can not understand how a retail un skilled employee can go on strike. Should be able to replace these people in seconds.
Now they want to take our guns away . That would be just fine. Take em away from the criminals first . Ill gladly give u mine. "Charlie Daniels"

They are part of the BCGEU union and voted 93.1% in favour of a strike. Gateway is hugely successful and employees are expecting to make at least par with other casinos in BC. Not sure how much tips brings in, but all casinos can handle tipping.
