It's the "KVS." The KVS Damnit! It drives me bonkers when people call it the "KVR!"

Jeez, calm down , you're starting to sound like another know- it- all poster.
It is indeed the kettle valley station, but I can be forgiven when you consider the "hello BC” website also lists it as the KVR.

Anyway, whatever the name is, the food is good.

And John Olfert hates it when I refer to his school as the KVS. But agree: KVS-pub has good food and Earls disappoints, usually.

The Kaleden Restaurant gives some of the best comfort food money can buy. Great portions, friendly staff and tremendous deserts.

Does great portions refer to healthy portions or oversized Americanesque portions for people with no self control who are contributing to the obesity caused health epidemic we are facing?

I cannot believe no one has mentioned Hillside Estate Winery as somewhere to eat. The new Chef took over two years ago and the menu he has put together is unreal. By far the best example of highly skilled highly trained cooks useing a majoraty of LOCAL meats, seafoods, and produce. They are the ONLY place in town that uses NOTHING BUT Oceanwise seafood. Sure some of the other places that have been mentioned are good. But do they focus on useing LOCAL promoting LOCAL and supporting the LOCAL farmer? I can tell you that EARLS doesnt. NONE of your fatty greasy chinese buffets care a damn about local!

As a serious foodie Here is my list of places to eat in the south O.K.
Hillside Estate Winery
Local Lounge and Grille
Naramata Heritage Inn
Burrowing Owl Winery
Cozy Bay fish n chips
Burger 55
Ill Vecchios
Copper Mug Pub
St. Germaines Bakery
Debbies Diner
The Bench
Isshin Sushi
Ginza Sushi
Navratan
Best of India
N'kmip Winery
Passa Tempo
Miradoro room @ Tinhorn Creek
Hammers House of Hog (summer in Oliver at the Bel-air motel)

Honesly I challenge some of you who suggested places like *names removed* and any buffet to ask to see the kitchen (it is your right as a customer) I can gaurantee you will be a little put off by the cleanliness of the kitchens and the lack of professionalism by the staff.

I'm sure I will be attacked for coming off as an "authority" on the matter but really some of the suggestions where so low class. I mean REALLY!!!?? someone visiting or just new to the area and your recommendation is THE FREAKING BUFFET!!!!!

Ya know I can appreciate good cuisine and do search it out but rather than get all hoity toity about it I can also confess to enjoying a good greasy feed at the buffet once and a while too.

well then where was your suggestion? no one is hoity toity. Just flabbergasted at the lack of really good suggestions on places to eat. Pretty much all of the really high quality places to eat were not even anywhere to be found on the list. :runforlife:

Perhaps people have tastes that are different than yours? Perhaps their budgets do not allow them your extensive dining experiences. To slam other peoples opinion for something as subjective as what is good food is hoity toity as well as arrogant.

LOL good food shouldnt be a matter of opinion. It is a matter of....... Quality ingredients, method of preperation, cleanliness of the kitchen it is prepeared in, Lenght of time it has been held at temperature, freshness of the product when served.

With your veiwpoint someone could argue that A&W or Mc'ds or Denny's is "good food" when we all know it isnt.

Now don't go calling me arrogant or hoity toity because I choose to spend my hard earned money on great food and you are happy to shovel in whatever as long as you dont have to cook or clean up the dishes. simple solution, dont eat out as much as you may. Eat out less and spend the money to go to GREAT places when you do go out.

And if I am way off...... Please understand this started as frustration that all of you "knowledgeable" ones on here that love to have the ultimate word on everything in the south okanagan, where just filled with terrible restaurant suggestions. I have this vision of computer trolls that pry themselves away from the computer just long enough to slink down to one of the local buffets or the Denny's cram their pieholes with "good food"

Some great suggestions, some I have tried, some I haven't, some I have never heard of. I'll look forward to trying the new to me places. Somewhat of a foodie myself, and always up for something new or different.

There are two places on that list which I would consider the food low class at best.
