Totally agree , as the good book says, " and some fell on stony ground"[Sic], I forgot just how "rocky" it is around here. :eyeballspin:

I do, however, wish the new council every success in their endeavors, may they even exceed the results achieved by the previous council,..... perhaps.

That's a 'little' nicer hoot ... as another good book says It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.

Yup, I caught it alright. Sounds like the letter writer is cut from the same cloth as Brentan and Hoot ... sour grapes is a far too generous of a term. They will spend the next three years spouting off (and accomplishing nothing) ... while the real work goes on around them. What a waste of time and energy!

641 posts in fewer than eleven months and you have the nerve to say I've been spouting off. ( 153 posts in 5 months)….lol

It's only natural for people to have a moan when their side loses, just look at the wailing and gnashing of teeth that went on here when the prison proposal was shot down. It's only human nature, or do we all have to march to the same tune on this forum. ?

First of all ... I have been posting for much longer than eleven months ... me thinks that your math needs some work. Secondly, I was referring to a letter that was written and published in the Penticton Herald ... so unless you are the author of that letter ... there is no need to be offended by my comment. I probably shouldn't have even mentioned your name (hoot) in that post - it was the letter writer (from the Herald) and brentan that I thought were over-the-top with their anger and hostility. You kind of got added in there out of habit. No, we certainly do not need to march to the same tune/drummer .... I'm not even sure what your point is. I actually thought you were being a little nicer for a change. :sunshine:

Why is it some people are so concerned about how often people post? Rather childish and petty response. But......if you have nothing of value to say.............
Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Then you can understand what my point was, you wrongly accused me of something and then don't have the courtesy to apologize.

I will concede my math was incorrect, and compared to other posters here, you're posts are a mere bagatelle.

At least we can agree to disagree and enter into some debate, unlike some posters who squeal they are being harassed at the merest criticism of their posts. And yet those same posters are the first to launch personal attacks on my posts; nothing short of blatant hypocrisy.

But let us move on from this frippery it is unproductive and apparently upsetting to some posters.

Back in a week or so.

After reading Clifford Martin‘s recent tirade and letter to the editor which I can assume a certain poster is referring to in this post, I must confess THIS ISNT me, however saying this and the laws of freedom of speech, this letter was totally fine in my books. Not everything in life is or has to be rosey rosey, nor will it ever be!
Some folks need to get thier heads out of the sand and see what happens in our world, let alone Penticton!
With watching local media, reading local media many folks around these parts are not satisfied! Sadly a good number who voice the concern rarely stick thier necks and or reputation out there thus the confusion that so many people are happy! Again, look at the numbers MORE people voted against Ashton than voted for him! Does this not tell you anything? Indeed the election tooks it course, however people cannot just say - he won and lets get on with it. Not that easy, as the status of council and the direction on important issuses seemed to be taken far to lightly in my opinon. The end result should have a process with both a start and end date and not a just a push it through mentality, which for some odd reason seems to have become the norm!
Good on councillers Litke and Big John!

By the same math, even more people voted against each of the other candidates, as has already been mentioned.

The question here would be what is to be accomplished by complaining about the outcome of a done deal? I do agree that interest in civic politics is pretty low but the important issues do bring out local voices which is good. I just think that positive, pro-active voices tend to get more attention from council. Getting all Slumpy and ranting at every opportunity is likely to get you a reputation that could adversely affect your credibility. I always liked the idea of arguing the points, not the people.

This is a little off topic but....

Did you just use 'Slumpy' as a verb??

Did I? Or is it an adverb when used to describe Slumpish behavior? Or is that supposed to be Slumpicious?

I think "Slumpy" or "slumpish" would be an adjective. For example - "what a Slumpy letter to the editor", or "What a Slumpish letter to the editor".

On the notion of Slumps Elvena and Ernie , did we all see the Gary Leaman letter to editor in todays Herald - Thanking them for support? Was also kinda surprised to see x mayor Perry pen a letter about Leaman in last weeks Herald!

Yeah, I think you're right Cap. In the case where it is describing a particular behavior, which would be a noun, then it would have to be an adjective. As opposed to "she ranted slumpishly" where it describes an action and would be an adverb. To be a verb it would have to be the action itself, as in "She slumped all over the letters-to-the-editor page."

What about: He/She pulled a Slump or You got yourself Slumped.

I think we are missing a business opportunity. T-Shirts that read: I survived being Slumped and all I got was this lousy t-shirt.

I've got this nagging pain in my neck. Think I might need a slumpectomy.
