Town Hall Meeting w/ Christy Clark

Postby ToddT » Dec 12th, 2011, 4:00 pm

Just got back to the office from the town hall meeting. While I don't always agree with everything the Liberal's support I found Premier Clark to be very transparent, and found her responses to some of the public's questions to be very motivating!
Good show! Thoughts?

Christy Clark has one mandate, bust the teachers union. Everything else is fluff. She started when she was minister of Education and will continue it as Premier. The NDP is laughing all the way to the polls.

Just pray that there is enough time before the next election for the Conservatives to gain traction. The libs stink and Adrian Dix is a frightening prospect. I couldn't pinch my nose tight enough to vote for either one of them.
Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

If we could just tax "stupid", there would be no government deficit

I just wanted to thank all the strangers at the meeting that supported us. To the jerk who said i should sell my jacket for food money..you're an ass! Not sure how making $50 equates to and solves no income for 17 months but ok. I'm just sorry we've been pushed so far that standing up like that and embarrassing myself is the only way to get the Government to listen.

What some people may not know is;
-The Ministry of Transportation trespassed on our property Jan 2010 and cut down 14 of our trees. To which we were told
F-You, go get a lawyer.
- They were under contract to move our business access because the new highway 33 expansion would be to close to us and unsafe. This was to be completed by March 5/10.
- They breached the contract and didn't move the driveway. They were found to have tried to pass off an "unsatisfactory for public use" access..as per the civil engineers we had to hire to prove their plan wouldn't work. Not only was it unsafe, didn't follow their own rules for road safety but was inaccessible!
- They trespassed again and removed our property pins and won't pay for them even though it's a chargeable offence and $5,000 fine.
- They have put us on notice to not make improvements to our property while they mull over where to put our driveway. This has caused us losses in the high 6 figures to low 7 figures in revenue. We were in the middle of a building expansion at the time and we aren't allowed to finish it because we can't make improvements..even though we were building before they came along. Our building has been held up at lock up stage for well over a year.
- They blocked our access so severely to the extent of parking across our driveway and refusing to let our customers or couriers in. More losses in the 6 figures.
- We've spent nearly $30,000 in costs to prove their designs wouldn't work and for all the bogus contracts and crap they've bombarded us with. They are trying to cause us financial hardship so we'll give up.
- We've requested info on our property from the Freedom of Information people. The ministry has blocked and stalled the process to protect themselves from their wrong doing. Pages arrived blanked out, missing or with one letter on them. We are waiting for a further 2200 documents but they have stalled with 3 extensions.
- The Ombudsperson's office took the case without doing an investigation first because they were shocked and appalled by the documents we provided them. They started 2 investigations immediately. It's still under investigation..since July.
- We have been left with a driveway that is illegal to enter, exit and otherwise use. We can't get a fire truck up our driveway or large commercial vehicles like before they ruined our access. They have crippled our ability to do business.
- They are 21 months in breach of contract right now and don't seem to bothered by it.
- They are in a taking/trespass on our property right now and are ignoring it.
- We have agreed to 3 access plans but they still haven't built one.

That's the readers digest version, there's way more but it gives you an idea of why we feel so desperate and spoke up at the meeting.

Their highway expansion shouldn't have cost us anything..but...it's cost us everything!!

Sounds to me like a lawyer is in order. If all of the above is true and they are in fact in breach of contract it should be a slam dunk.

Yup..it's pretty straight forward..just need another $50,000 to start trial, probably end up around $100,000 or more..i don't have that and there is no guarantee the judge will award all your costs. I''d rather shame them into doing the right thing. I shouldn't have to sue them, they can settle out of court. It's cheaper for the tax payer. I already have one of the best law firms in town (Pushor Mitchell) and they aren't cheap!

This whole thing is a nightmare!!

Whatever Christy Clark and any of her Liberal entourage say is totally unsubstantiated horse manure. We have to work hard to help the Conservatives build a sustainable base in the Okanagan. This worst in BC history cleptocracy is domed to end up on the same history garbage dump.
