One of my friends actually got a bad burn when his bare arm rubbed down the side! That would've been about '78. Does anyone else remember that or was I imagining it?
That would be Adventure Land just north of Winfield tucked into the hillside at the intersection of Pondarosa rd. and the highway. Spent many summers on that slide.
Don't remember anything close to the airport.
I too have heard the rumor that the Westside waterslides may be closing soon to make way for more developments.

Actually the one I was referring to was at the north end of Penticton.

Maybe the south end of Penticton? Just a little up the hill from the airport is where Okanagan Amusements is/was. There have been numerous different incarnations there from the rollerskating rink in the sixties through to the laser tag course and go-cart track and bumper boats. I vaguely remember the slide you are talking about, it wasn't huge, maybe four lanes wide. There hasn't been much action around there lately, their main building burnt down with no insurance a couple of years back and I'm not sure if anything is going on there now.

The old slide in Winfield was a blast and also used a burlap sack.
Hehe, check my location, Bonk. I don't live there anymore. Sigh! Sure wish I did. My parents currently live about a mile from there.

That's pretty sad, I bet there is still demand for it? ... but housing development comes first!

I just phones Wid n Wet and the lady informed me that the waterslide is officially gone for good as of last week. Man I loved that place when I was a kid, me and my family would travel to kelowna on summer vacations and hit wild n wet, flintstone land, and scandia... so many good memories... what do kids do now around here? oh well... :200:
