I heard that the VIP sections are sold out, but that there are still tickets to be had on the floor, directly from SOEC. Or from resellers.

So I see SOEC has opened up more Avicii seats and as low as $40.
I guess they sold out the exensive VIP sections first! Smart, I suppose.

It would be interesting if Madonna showed up with Avicii in Penticton!

It was garbage. But you get wasted, shiny shirt guidos and their skanks paying that much for a ticket and they'll think its good. Lowest common denominator DJ music was made for them. The promoter made a mint.

Not much else to say. This is the kind of Dj that has everything pre-programmed so that all they have to do is stand there, fist pump the air, and make money. All flash, no substance. The mainstreamification of electronic dance music will be it's death. Just like the backlash against disco in the late 70's. Even Paris Hilton is calling herself a DJ now. It's like the punchline to a bad joke.

Electronic music peaked with Kraftwerk and Brian Eno in the early 80's with consideration given to The Future Sound of London in the 90's.

Agreed. Interesting enough, I happen to be associated with a major Drum and Bass DJ in Calgary. He was telling me most of the DJ's he's connected to don't think to highly of Mr. Avicii. The reasons? Exactly as stated by Mr. Danksworth and 5VP. No different than groups who lip sync recorded lyrics. Would still be interested in the exact turnout and whether or not this show made money for both the promoter and more importantly the SOEC. Does anyone have the scoop?

Can't think of a single venue that releases financials on individual events.

This was a good show for the youth of the area that like this type of music.

I'm sure the youth had fun getting wasted on ketamine. You could listen to shoes in a dryer and enjoy it.

Really enjoyed James Miller's article re: SOEC in the Herald today. I really think he explains the problems of trying to target youth in this market better than anyone has ever explained it. Unfortunately, I could not find it on-line to share. If you can read it. According to James ... the Avicii concert didn't do that well. I think this should help SOEC and City Advisory Group evaluate future concerts targeted at the youth demo. Penticton simply doesn't have a large enough draw. The price of Acicii was also kind of high for that 16+ demo. As James explains ... SOEC should continue to target the market it draws the most from. Country!
