Eathquake?

Post by fluffy »

I felt a rumble a few minutes ago. Trying to find a real-time map for seismic activity.

We didn't feel anything, one of my animals is very sensitive to that, no alert activity here.

It wasn't big by any means, I would have missed it had I not been sitting quietly at that moment. Similar to what one would feel if a heavt truck passed by on the street in front of the house but there was no traffic. Probably some banker dropping his wallet.

Is their appearance on that map pretty much instant?

Should be, I'm not sure about quarry blasts.

There was a M2.4, 20km SSW of Penticton at 12:26PM according to the USGS: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/ ... 76#summary

I felt that too but also thought it was just a truck or my neighbours upstairs!

Saw this on the Canadian Geological Survey Earthquake page. The USGS real-time map doesn't always show all Canadian quakes.

http://www.earthquakescanada.nrcan.gc.ca/recent_eq/2013/20130505.1926/index-eng.php

Shows a 1.9 mag quake at 19:26 UT time (12:26am PDT approx)

I googled the coordinates and it was centered in the hills above Twin Lakes, SW of the golf course.
