Surprised I haven't seen it on Castanet yet, maybe I missed it.
Anyways, I'm not endorsing it but it seems it was a pretty theatrical heist.

Re: Stolen Corvette
It turned off the highway before the Coquihalla Connector intersection. That leaves a lot of territory, not the least of which is the road up through Trepanier that joins the Connector a few clicks up from the 97 interchange.

Hard to believe; I sure hope they catch the crook or crooks involved.

Ya I have to think it's long gone now. With this one being a success it's hard not to think it will happen again somewhere else, and probably soon.

Re: Stolen Corvette
That happened last year when someone stole an old Camaro on trailer out of West Kelowna. They found the trailer up Trepanier near the exits, and figure it was loaded into some kind of van or trailer...gone.
Lots of places it could have gone, I wonder if they are lying low with it. Then they will load it when the heat dies down and haul it in a semi trailer.

I doubt that . That was a high end prize bound for parts unknown .

Re: Stolen Corvette
That's the likely scenario. Special order from a "Gone In Sixty Seconds" type crew. With internet sites like autotrader a thief can target his marks from a couple hundred miles away. The thing could have been tucked away in a chop shop at the coast before the sun came up the next morning.

if I was the dealer it would be one quick call to OnStar and have it be all over (presuming that the vet had OnStar)

Even if it did I'm sure the thieves knew how to disable it.
Also I wonder if Onstar even works until the registered owner enables it?

That's worked out great for me!

Re: Stolen Corvette
With the anti-theft devices in vehicles today, how would this thief have been able to break in to the showroom, and hot wire it, get it out before the cops got there? One would assume that the dealer has a burglar alarm. Plus Tim Hortons is just down the street; would've been a short run for the cops.

Re: Stolen Corvette
Large majority of dealerships here in Kelowna leave the keys in the vehicles inside the showrooms. Either someone had a similar corvette and needed parts, or just wanted to make a quick buck by changing the vin #. it's that easy.

Re: Stolen Corvette
I'm not sure how much of an inside job it was when the whole bay window was smashed in and if dealers quite often leave the keys in the vehicle. Someone could be cruising around looking for that type of vehicle, found it and did their dastardly deed.
