It would make a wonderful present.

lol...this is the "Penticton" thread. Driving to Sears in Kelowna would add another $25 in fuel and take 2 hours of your time on the highway.

Sears in Penticton does not have a photography studio.

Considering this was a grad photo that needs to be ordered, Sears wouldn't help much anyway.

It was just a thought for a new round of photos for the same price as the single print re-order. I wonder if portrait photography is limited in Penticton.

I don't know if it's changed, but when I graduated, most photographers in Kelowna had the colours of each school, the gowns were rentals, and the caps and tassels came home; it was the same for HS and OUC.

There are 5 listed on Canada411. They are all home addresses. Wal Mart is the only one I know of.

The photographer had to pay the school a fee to be there (sometimes they have to bid and the highest one wins) - and has to make enough money to pay for the fee + all the equipment + his time. It's not cheap for a reason.

To Captain Awesome ...

Your comment about the photographer paying the school for the right to take grad pictures begs the question; What happens to the money that the photographer pays the school?

Given that the students have to pay more for the pictures based on what the photographer has to pay the school, isn't that simply a way of the school (board) "taxing" more money out of the parents, who already pay school taxes?

Taxing assumes person has no choice. In this case, person has a choice whether or not purchase the photos.

First off, to many it's more than "a few bucks", especially when it boils down to, do I get a photograph and skip dinner tomorrow, or does food win out.

Second that sounds much like a union brother "sour grapes" type comment.

Thirdly, I could possibly be wrong, but I'm fairly certain that WalMart employees also comprise "this community" and are a part of the whole that created it.

What a clueless remark.

Yes Wal-mart employees are part of this community. Too Bad 95% of them are kept just below full-time hours. Also, None of the stores profits stay in town to support our schools or other infrastructure. I would also go as far as to assume that the store receives tax-breaks from the city therefore paying less to operate in town then some smaller businesses. But if all of that sounds like good business to have in your community then you might need to change the lens of the glasses you look thru.
