Penticton Daycare Options

Post by Mrs_H »

Hi all,
Just wondering what options are out there for daycare in Penticton? Is it hard to find a spot? Is it harder to find part time or full time? Common prices you have seen/been charged? Looking for an idea of what to expect. I heard that it's really difficult to find regular daycare in Penticton. Thanks.

is it hard to find daycare? depends on what you are looking for. i actually just returned to work today after my mat leave and had some struggles. i miraculously found care for both my sons at an in home license not required registered daycare. i would say going price is $35/day for full time/child plus food that you provide. i have also been on a waitlist for 4.5 years for a daycare centre and my son wont even be 4 until may .having mentioned the price i have found cheaper but that appears to be the going rate. subsidy can be applied for which covers up to $600/month for a child under 30 months i believe and up to $550 for a child up to school age for fulltime care. check with CCRR on ellis st and they generally have lists of centres and in home centres and can help with filling out paperwork for subsidy. they help regardless of subsidy requirements and have been great to deal with, personally.
