Firefighters rushed to the scene as flames engulfed two vehicles early Saturday morning.

Coldstream fire chief Shane Code says crews were called out to the vehicle fires outside Alexander’s Beach Pub on Kalamalka Road around 12:20 a.m.

“We arrived on scene to find two vehicles. One was fully involved and the other had caught fire from the first vehicle,” Code said.

There was no one inside either vehicle.

Code notes that it is difficult to say if the blaze was suspicious.

“It was odd. The fire did not originate from the engine bonnet or the front of the car. It originated at the rear of the vehicle,” he said.

“It’s not your classic car fire,” he adds, noting most vehicle fires start in the engine bonnet.

Crews put out the two fires. Code adds it was fortunate the vehicles were not adjacent to the pub or the flames could have spread.

He says one vehicle was completely destroyed while the other was partially saved. Both vehicles were towed away.

The investigation is now in the hands of the RCMP.

Maybe it was the reporter that called it that and not Mr. Code.
It wasn't presented as a quote.
