Dougs Boat Works 2013

Post by Gixxer »

Anyone else notice a so called used car dealership at the north end of town? Its beside the prestige inn, and across from London Drugs. Its full of old vehicles, junk, and weeds. What an eye sore for the city, especially on the main north end of entrance to the city.

How has the City of Vernon not enforced some sort of bylaw to have the owner clean it up?

That isn't a "used car dealership". Those vehicles haven't turned a wheel in years. It's part of the auto recycling, or as some would call it "junk yard" in the north end of the city. The owner used to own a huge chunk of that north end and was there long before it was developed. Yes, it doesn't look good.

Recycling permitted as long as it looks good?

I called it a "used car dealership" because there's a sign. The other 3 auto recycling places have all their auto recycling behind high fences so people cant see.

To Gixxer and GordonH ...

What I meant was "should recycling be required to make effort keep the site operation presentable"?. My comment was poorly written ... sorry.

Never bothered me either. Probably won't notice it next time I drive by there.

No one has ever brought it up driving by so its safe to say that it isn't bothering them either or they would have mentioned it. Nes pas? Just asked the Mrs' and its never bothered her - she finds Coldstream Truck Wreckers on 48th Ave more of an eyesore. But they were both their long before the highway even went down that way or before that area was developed.
