3rd Party Insurance of UHaul Truck?

Post by dem926 »

Does anyone know where to get 3rd party liability insurance on a UHaul Truck?

UHaul trucks only come with $200,000 of 3rd party liability which is the statutory minimum in BC.
UHaul won't sell you more in Canada. ICBC doesn't offer any coverage on rentals over 5000lbs GVW.
I have called several insurance brokers and none offer any sort of top-up.

It shouldn't be this hard.

U-Haul offers different insurance packages over and above basic insurance. Just ask when renting or give them a call prior and see which package works best for your needs.

Safemove only covers the basic limit of $200,000 for third party liability
Safemove Plus is not available in Canada.
I talked to uhaul insurance division and they confirmed that they don't offer anything over the statutory mininum for third party liability. They said their agents aren't licensed insurance brokers so they can't offer insurance.
