Nobody wants to hear your opinion. They just want to hear their own opinion coming out of your mouth.

Miles Douglas Lund Wohlford
Feb. 20, 2000 - July 4, 2014
Miles was born in Vernon during his brother Jaden’s home hockey tournament and the arena has been his second home ever since.
Miles would always have a goalie helmet on and mini-stick in hand at every game. He couldn’t wait to be big enough to start Little Vipers when he was 5.
Miles, aka “Smiles,” has played every sport for at least one season and excelled at everything he tried; soccer, baseball, hockey, lacrosse, rugby, volleyball and basketball. This past fall he was playing field lacrosse, hockey and refereeing hockey and then thought he could try out and make the Grade 8 school volleyball team too. He did. He also helped the Fulton Maroons go undefeated and win the North Zone Grade 8 rugby championship.
Miles was born without vision in his right eye, we had no idea until he was about 9. The ophthalmologist cautioned us about the barriers and challenges Miles would face. Miles proved over and over there were no barriers and he was always up for a challenge.
He lived his life full of determination enthusiasm, and passion.
We have a huge challenge ahead of us to carry on without him. We have no choice but to accept the challenge; we do, however, have a choice on how we take on the challenge. We can choose to be better people or we can choose the latter. He was a true example of how life should be lived.
Miles was just Miles. He didn’t worry about what anyone thought about what he did; he thought nothing of going to school or hockey practice with one of his sister’s Hello Kitty socks on one foot and a fluorescent green one on the other. He never had bad days, just bad hours. He forgave quickly, he valued his relationships and took care of them. He was always accountable. He stood up for what he believed in and most of all he valued himself. One of his lacrosse coaches called him “a player that you as a coach learn from.”
Miles was seriously injured while enjoying life on June 28 in a boating accident on Okanagan Lake. After nearly a week in Kelowna General Hospital he succumbed to his injuries and was able to give the gift of life to at least 6 people.
Miles is survived by his parents, dad Todd Wohlford, mom Randi Lund, brother Jaden Lund and sister Taigan Wohlford, as well his “siblings by chance,” Robynne, Derrill and Haven. He is also survived by his grandparents, Clay and Bev Wohlford, Gord Lund, and Betty Lou Caston (Phil); uncles Cal (Leanne), Wade (Barb), Vic, Jim (Crystal); aunties Cyndi, Jaime (Cory) and Cindy, cousins Nate, Travis, Davis, Rorie, Natasha, Hailey, Jenna, Paige, Kristi, Amanda, Katelynn, Ella and Esme, as well as many special friends and extended family.
A celebration of Miles’ life will be held Monday, July 14, at 3 p.m. at Kal Tire Place. The family asks those who plan on attending to show their respect and love for Miles by wearing a jersey or a sports uniform. Pajama bottoms and socks that don’t match are optional.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so can make a donation in Miles’ memory to Greater Vernon KidSport.
A pizza reception will follow the celebration of life at Kal Tire Place.
“You can remember him and only that he’s gone
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
Or you can do what he’d want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.”

Iam a hard nosed 63 year old man and fully admit I shed a few tears when I read his obituary above
