Rain today! And yesterday, that was quite the short downpour we had.

Good, we need every last snowflake to add to a snowpack.

The snowpack is typically all melted by mid-June, so need yet. The next snowpack season starts in October.

The hottest places in Canada yesterday were in Ontario. Windsor was 34.3C.

Penticton reported 24.6mm of rain for Friday. I'm wondering if that was a record? Seems it could be a daily record, I know it's not a record for the month. I did find the monthly average to be 34.4mm (1961-1990), 38.9mm (1971-2000) and 46.3mm (1981-2010). Interesting how the average is increasing. I remember 2012 was a very very wet June.

The daily record for June 10th is 39.4 mm set in 1918, which was the fourth wettest day on record in Penticton. The wettest day ever in Penticton was August 9th, 2008 with 45.3 mm.

Generally speaking, the climate has been getting wetter over time, though the past 15 years have seen a leveling off.

What year was it when it rain and rain and rain and we had the big mudslide up in Joe Rich?
We lost three very dear Joe Rich folks that day - the Philpott Family is in my thoughts this morning.

When the kids were little and they'd wake up to a misty wet morning like today is, I'd tell them the clouds were so full of rain and fog they had to come down from the sky to sit on the hills surrounding our farm to rest for a while. Mornings like this...in the quiet damp stillness...reminds me how blessed I am.

And more rain today. We probably could use it, and will probably need it in a month or so.

I'm going out to plant the soil is perfect for it. I've never bought grown corn and planted it, but my seeds came up uneven. I'm so glad for cooler weather (Woodenhead is :cuss: right now), but I'm headed out to plant.

Mixed bag for today - isn't June usually wetter or is that July I'm thinking of?
