Chatting with an avalanche technician yesterday. I asked what the long term snow forecast might be.
His reply....if you don't have good snow tires get some..
This, evidently, is the second year of La Nina and he mentioned can create more cold precipitation.

Now saying that, just went to a site ( unofficial projection) that said we could have a "normal" year or even a slight influence from a weak El Nino
http://www.globalweatheroscillations.com/el-nio-la-nina

So, sounds like it is a crap shoot as to what's coming this winter...

No, but more snow... usually. Last winter is a prime example. Drier than average, but snowier than average.

Cumshewa Island = 7.9
Kindakun Rocks = 8.7
Port Alberni = 5.6

The lying skumbag pedophiles will tell you that Kelowna has the lowest windspeed in Canada, but that's not quite true. It is one of the least windy places in Canada, but definitely not 1st place.

14 least Least windy places in Canada (all locations with an average under 6km/h):
    1) Blue River, BC = average wind speed of 2.2km/h

    2) Dawson, YT = 3.8 km/h

    3) Princeton, BC = 4.5 km/h
    4) Lindburg Landing, NWT = 4.5 km/h
    5) Pemberton, BC = 4.8 km/h
    6) Puntzi Mountain, BC = 4.9 km/h

    7) Port Alberni, BC = 5.1 km/h
    8) Burns Lake, BC = 5.2 km/h
    9) Salmon Arm, BC = 5.5 km/h
    10) West Vancouver, BC = 5.5 km/h
    11) Nakusp, BC = 5.6 km/h
    12) St. Jovite, QC = 5.7 km/h
    13) Kelowna, BC = 5.7 km/h
    14) Pitt Meadows, BC = 5.8 km/h

Has May always been this hot? :135: Not appreciating the heat, we should have this in July not May.

Definitely one of the hottest Mays I can remember. I'll look into it later as to how hot. Gotta get stuff down now...

Lets hope June has some precip.

In 2003 the last significant rainfall was in mid May and then dried out. Fire behavior in July and August was exacerbated from the dry conditions and wind.
Last year was also dry as the fires in the interior claimed massive tracks of land and timber.

Yes warm out. I get home in the afternoon, have a cider and that is about it. No fence building until it gets cooler.

Crazy how Kamloops is just as likely to be the hotspot in BC as Osoyoos!

Interestingly enough, it's been far hotter in ManPersonitoba and Saskatchewan than BC this week.

For example, Today's BC hotspot: Nakusp = 30.4C; Today's Canadian hotspot: Emerson, MB = 34.7C
Yesterday's BC hotspot: Kamloops = 31.4C; Yesterday's Canadian hotspot: Kelsey Dam, MB = 33.6C
