We have an abundance of ski hills already.

You can ski at Blackcombe in the summer if you want some turns.

Jumbo is located in a critical grizzly bear corridor.

Still a go.

A First Nations' claim that the sacred Grizzly Bear Spirit lies within a swath of British Columbia wilderness will not block development of a giant ski resort more than two decades in the making.

A BC Supreme Court judge dismissed on Thursday a legal challenge by the Ktunaxa Nation to the massive project being built by Glacier Resorts in southeastern B.C.'s Purcell Mountains.

Dream on.

Locals will not allow it.

This isn't Christy this time - it's the BC Supreme Court.

I understand that GF. It was Christy that rubber stamped it, ect.

This was just one of many salvos fired by many groups opposing it. We will see blockades or worse before anything gets rolling.

^^^ Rubber-stamped after 20 years of consultation? Do you know what the definition of rubber-stamped is? Would 20 more years of consultation make you happy?

I'm glad the high courts have told the Indians to buzz off. Sorry, no ransom money today.

I find it amusing though that spiritual beliefs of one group of people are taken so seriously. And that's regardless of what I think of Glacier (cause I think he's an excellent poster and a snappy dresser).

Say, if I was to tell a development company that they shouldn't be building anything on empty lot at Harvey and Richter because Jesus spoke to me there in a form of burning bush, they'd tell me to buzz off. But if somebody speaks about a spirit of a bear that protects the land and hence it shouldn't be touched - hey, Supreme Court, here we go.

I just find it ironic.

So, it's the age thing? If one's religious beliefs are older than others it should be taken seriously - even though they're both pretty wacky? So, Christianity should be disregarded but say whatever is connected to Zeus or Ra should be taken seriously when considering property development?

Sounds to me like age discrimination!

Oh great, more camo geared bandanna covered road blockers. That really tips us toward your cause. Hiding behind the "Spirit of the bear might leave " is about as valid as all infidels should be killed. That includes you by the way so which religion prevails?

Seriously, I try to respect all faiths, mainstream or minority. Specific sacred sites that are verifiable are sacrosanct as far as I am concerned. It is to me no different than respect to a grave site. I do however have a problem with shutting down hundreds or even thousands of hectares of land, excluding any development, on the premise a a spirit that might leave because some buildings or a ski hill might be built. Is your spirit so fragile that that is all it would take? The Musqeuum band at he coast has obviously sold it's sole to all spirits then? Or do they still have them when it comes to ransom talks?
Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Now BC's largest grizzly bear hunt in decades is starting to make sense to me. Let's just keep handing over the wilderness and natural resources to billionaires to make even more money. Sure, they'll throw us a bone by providing some jobs, but they'll take their profits elsewhere.

There's a movie on Netflix about Jumbo now.

Somewhat interesting, though very one-sided.

We know why it shouldn't be built. What's the other side of the debate?

I want to make shareholders money?

The human right to be able to ski year round?

We need to create chairlift jobs for TFW's to staff?
