Sorry if you feel the molesters deserve more rights, i do not and simply have said there was no reason this pervert wasnt caught long ago.
This was sloppy lazy police work plain and simple.

It's ironic when people claim things are plain and simple when talking about matters that can't be farther from being plain or simple.
Sarcasm is like a good game of chess. Most people don't know how to play chess.

maybe its strange to expect the police to track down a sexual predator, they had 2 years to do it and didnt.
as i said lets see how long it takes to find him now with all the media attention.
everyone is entitled to their opinions and mine is they were too lazy or too busy handing out cell phone tickets to bother.
i dont care if a small group feel these sexual child diviants deserve more rights than the victims.
if some hacker group can help pinpoint these scumbags im all for them.
they deserve zero rights in my opinion, none.

Interview with Amanda's mother, Carol Todd

The mother of cyberbullying victim Amanda Todd says the teen, whose story led to a worldwide outpouring of anger and grief, touched the heart of most people she met and was not obsessed with being on the internet.

In an Oct. 20 interview with the Vancouver Sun, released Tuesday, Carol Todd, of Port Coquitlam, B.C., said her 15-year-old daughter rarely failed to leave a positive impression on people.

“Amanda touched the heart of most people that she met. She did something. It was something her smile or what she said or her laughter or her humour. She had quirky humour. They always found the side of Amanda that they liked,” Todd said.

Amanda Todd, 15, of Port Coquitlam, B.C., took her own life in September. (Facebook)
Amanda Todd committed suicide last month after posting a video on YouTube detailing her plight with bullies and others trying to manipulate her in person and online.

Her exact cause of death has not been revealed.

In the video, using a series of flash cards, Amanda wrote that her downward spiral started after an unknown man convinced her to expose herself online in front of a webcam. He blackmailed her and spread the photos around, destroying her reputation.

Carol Todd said people who ask why her daughter was on the internet so much instead of being engaged in other activities don’t know the whole story.

“She did use some internet stuff on her downtime, but in her whole entire life she figure-skated in our community, she swam competitively in the summer for a couple of years. She did gymnastics, she did soccer, she cheerleaded. For six years, she played ice hockey in our community,” her mother said.

A video Todd posted before her death explained her plight in a unique way. (YouTube)
“She did as much as any child could and maybe a little more,” Todd’s mother said. “It isn't about a child that had nothing to do and sat on her computer in her room 24/7 — that wasn't it.”

Todd said her daughter was not ignored or deprived, and had lots of help available to her.

“When she was in need of support, there was counselling available to, there was doctors’ support for her, there was school support available for her. We did everything. We did everything we could."

she wanted it to stop, and she tried to make it stop, and people tried to help her make it stop, and this is the only way she felt she could make it stop.
She was wrong.
It didn't stop.
Even after she was gone.
She just doesn't have to feel it anymore.
She didn't want to die.
She wanted to live in peace.

you're the first person I have ever heard refer to suicide as a 'simple story'. That's because it isn't.

a selfish child who didnt care about the ramifications of what her decision would cause. her pain and suffering are over. but now all the rest close to her begins. and now the torment of accusations fly with impunity. its life in the virtual world.

People who commit suicide do not want to die, infact some try many times failing to succeed as she tried. They want the noise to stop. They are at their last strings when they succeed whether it be their first try or like most their second or third or many more attempts.
When a person, child or adult commits suicide they are at the end of their ropes for what to do to end that noise what ever it be. It is human nature to try to survive but there is a point a person thinks it cant go away or in her case she had ruined herself, her whole future by making a mistake.
Today I think its even worse, used to be your troubles were in your school or your community, problem now is the net is your community and if you dont or cant escape it it follows you no matter where you go. Again I think if the cops had taken over her affected accounts to nab the perv and she was made to stay off the net or sign up new accounts with new friends and new names for herself with those new friends chances are she would have escaped it and been given a whole new start with her move to another city. She was a kid so she probably didnt think of that but the adults, police, her parents or a councillor should have directed her to do that and leave the old life with the bad mistake behind her,,,
Suicide is not a simple story and if you think it is then you need to read a book or two because thats just hot air... When you look back at most who commit suicide you would find there were signs,,, there was likely more then one reason and it was built up over time, also it was about more then words said,,,
No one kills themselves in a day, it happens over a long period of time with many issues I think deeper then just the one they claim broke the camels back. It has to look like dark days ahead for a long time to come when a person gives up. If they thought it could get better they wouldnt do it. Thats why good councilling can help when someone can convince someone its not over and there are rose gardens over the fence but a person has to make the jump over.... You need to leave Everything behind if you make a move to get away from it,,, he shoulda never been able to reach her a year later,,, that dissapoints me but its a learning lesson for others. She could move and she did but no one helped her to understand she needed to move everything,,, not just herself and her clothes.
Facebook IMO is not a good thing. You use it to help others like old school mates find you,,, you want to be found when you use your real name and to invite friends to find you is to invite anyone to find you.. Why would anyone let their kids post their names and pics and addresses on facebook? Lets say some creap right now is looking for a kid to torment or exploit and your kid is online right now, or you go look, its 11 pm right now and your kid is asleep, you feel good now, but their info is out there,,,, Your house is on google, your curtains may as well be wide open. You may as well post a sign on your lawn,,, 15 year old boy or girl lives here,,, not like your neighborhood cant see that but why open that info to the world? Cameras are used,,, a pig for an excuse of a human being is looking in their bedroom while posing as their best friend or the love of their life and they have no idea whats happening. Look at yourselves here,,, rarely does anyone use their real name,,, why? Because we shouldnt. The web might be an open door but we have the right to hold back any info we want to hide and just have fun.
I think it was a complex thing and she needed help and she was shorted, because some people think "Its Simple" not at all, if it was she would be alive today. Its fixable tho if people do whats needed when a child is in trouble.

She could not erase what happened and facebook freaks and school peers made sure she wouldn't forget.

Its fixable tho if people do whats needed when a child is in trouble.

They all tried; that was their best.

it think it is brilliant that this thread has evolved away from a bullying battlecry into what the reality is. someone committed suicide and it is a tough issue to tackle. you can push bullying back.....but suicide leaves too many questions. thats why i think the focus was on the bullying at first.

Thank you GF,,, I really hope people will look at Amanda's story from all angles,,, she left it for someone to learn something from it, it wasnt just a cry for help even tho it was likely a hope that there was a chance someone might see it and show her what to do. For her to post it like she did I believe she wanted to tell people this kind of thing hurts really bad when there is no escape from someone like him and the bullies. There is lots to learn here, lots more then many will know if they dont take the time to see it.
It should be discussed in schools and homes and even places like cadets, or kid camps,,, anywhere a child will sit and listen. It should also be discussed at the water dispenser at work,,, single parents groups, hey why not at any adult gathering?
OnTheRoadAgain wrote:She could not erase what happened and facebook freaks and school peers made sure she wouldn't forget.

She couldnt erase it but she should have been able to,,, dump the facebook account, she had moved to a new city,,, wash it all away not just your old city,,, all of it. The cops should have had that account.

That was their best but here we see there is more to do because their best didnt save her.
Bet if a parent would ban their child from the net for a year for showing their boobs, like as a punishment they would be better off down the road even if they hate it happening,,, lets say let her back onto other sites less apt to ask so much personal info and she uses names like we do here, her friends know her as that,,, would that be so bad? Would it be so bad if parents all said no to their kids using a site like facebook? Seems so but imagine those not stalked right to their homes,,, even their new homes like she was. She never escaped it because she didnt know how and now we know how. He shoulda never reached her a year later. Not if someone showed her how to protect herself properly. She was a kid, kids know the internet is huge,,, they dont know how dangerous it is, till they step into her shoes.

I remember my parents telling us as kids how bad people can be and that was why we were not allowed out after certain hours, especially in winter after dark till we hit a certain age,,, I remember thinking, awwww heck, they make that crap up to keep us from having fun. they just want control,,,, well that was when someone could be walking your street at night, now they dont have to leave their computer chair to find you and they are real and they can be a country away and still get to you if you suit them well.
