so the Canadian Association of Police Chiefs wants the right to listen to all your phone calls, read all your emails, monitor every forum or post you make without the need of a search warrant.
is this how Canada should progress?
sounds a bit like WW2 germany.
when we loose full rights to expected privacy for no reason its scarey.
if this law passes the police will be able to look at any poster on here and know who and where you are.
everything logged and tracked.
and the USA seemed scarey with homeland security.
seems like a law people should question.

WW2 Germany did not have emails or forum posts.

there is a difference between police showing quick action and having the full rights to monitor your phone calls and mail etc without even having to explain why.
whats next no need to ask for a warrant to search your home?
it seems like a feeble excuse "it takes too much time to request a warrant"
it takes a entire 2 minute phone call.

They can do all of that now without a warrant. If they want to read your posts they just have to look in here like anyone else and the mods know who you are....oooh so scary!

There are some things that I agree they don't need instant access to though. We need some privacy.

yes they can always read posts, but under the requested law everything as i see is open for them.
they can ask who it is posting whatever and the information would have to be given.
i believe if you are not breaking any Canadian laws you should have the expected right to privacy.
so if you post a opinion on CBC that the police dont like they can instantly access who and where you are.

This is merely one more step in the process of trying to give the police the ultimate power over all citizens To bypass the courts , Lawyers and especially the judges.

Under the guise of trying to root out bullies and child pornographers And trying to strike fear In the simpleminded who dont understand the ramifications of losing their privacy and civil rights.

The police forces all across North America have proven that they do not have the intelligence , or responsible enough officers to be given even more power.

The police need reasonable grounds to do so. Sounds like the wording of Section 34 might be tightened up.

Ask yourself this why do they want to remove the need to have actual evidence in order to have the right to spy on you if they arent going to just cast a wide net and spy on all of us. Warrants are there to impedeimpede police and protect us from them you do not need to prove your entire case to get one you just need some! Evidence.

If there is a problem with the warrant system then lets fix that not bypass it altogether.

Reasonable grounds is what you need for a warrant too...... Why would we remove our only protection?

police have way too much power already .. what makes them better than u or me they r just cops
