Nothing here in Vernon. I've been watching the news since this story broke and it seems miraculous that there haven't been any reports of damage at all. I hope it stays that way.
I'm completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. My idea is that these two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death.

Nothing more moving around here right now. I'm taking that as a good sign.
News is on in less than twenty minutes. Think we probably made the lead story.
I hope no one was hurt 'cause I wanna say that was kinda fun.
G'night all

Before giving someone a piece of your mind, make sure that you have enough to spare.

I'm amazed that there hasn't really been any damage from this. Thats a good thing. This is the largest earthquake to happen in Canada in over 60 years.

Estimated arrival times and wave heights
Show fewer locations
Langara Island, British Columbia 9:16 PM GMT-07 (1 hour, 42 minutes ago) 0.1m / 0.3ft
Sitka, Alaska 8:24 PM GMT-08 (1 hour, 34 minutes ago) 0.1m / 0.3ft
Craig, Alaska 8:27 PM GMT-08 (1 hour, 31 minutes ago) 0.1m / 0.4ft
Not much of a tsunami.

I just read that the small waves come first, but hoping those reported will be as big as they get.

Theres now coverage on Channel 4 and 8. Both channels have Global Vancouver News, and CHBC isn't on tonight because of this.

Re: Earthquake hits Queen Charlottes ?
To give everyone an idea of the size of this quake:
Approximate TNT for Seismic Energy Yield
6.0 = 15 kilotons of TNT (Approximate yield of the Little Boy Atomic Bomb dropped on Hiroshima)
7.7 = 5.4 megatons of TNT (current earthquake)
8.9 = 240 megatons of TNT (Japan March 2011)
9.2 = 950 megatons of TNT (2004 Indian Ocean earthquake)
9.5 = 2.7 gigatons of TNT (Valdivia earthquake, Chile in 1960)
