Let's not.

Let's pretend you didn't even think that let alone type it.

No, I don't think so but definitely NOT an Atlas. I know better than to say "me and my friends".

I'm not really even a dyed-in-the-wool Libertarian ... but I just keep asking all the socialist-type folks - "How ya gonna pay for all those social programs and benefits?" and nobody ever answers. It's lonely here in Accountable and Responsible Land.

Even China has figured out that true socialism isn't working for them - which is why they became "pseudo capitalists" to milk the other real capitalists. Ponder on that one for a few minutes - its actually quite funny.

I like Ayn Rand. I think some of what she says has meaning and purpose. But then, I started reading her works without having any bias of my own so I didn't start from a socialistic prejudice viewpoint, either. Also, my public schooling was pretty much finished before the start of the mass public school brainwashing so I did manage to avoid that setback to reasoning things through for myself.

A lawyer for the unions seeking to stop the use of temporary foreign workers from China at a northern BC coal mine says the company advertised those jobs for $10 to $17 less than what is paid at a nearby mine for similar work.

At least 200 Chinese workers have been issued temporary work permits for the Murray River Coal Mine near Tumbler Ridge operated by HD Mining. CBC reports that 17 Chinese miners have already arrived in the town.

Charles Gordon has told a Federal Court judge the company was also looking specifically for workers who speak Mandarin.

He says allowing the temporary workers to fill the jobs will directly affect the unions and Canadian workers, and the court should hear the unions' challenge to the permits that are allowing them to come to Canada.

However, the Crown and the mining companies say the unions have no right to challenge the temporary work permits.

Gordon says the Crown is siding with the companies and trying to silence the unions.

nice job by the BC government to allow companies to bring in low cost workers, drive wages down and prices up.

Not sure about that - wouldn't this be a Federal issue?

i would think the provincial government has some input on allowing workers from other places also.
but yes the Harper government should also take a stand against it.
if there is a shortage of skilled workers they should train more here.
if its to import workers for a huge discount in wages that should be considered against the law.
whats next build sweat shops and import kids?

I spose because the supervisors will be Mandarin-speaking with no English??

This just frosts me that the feds are not standing up for Canadians and Canadian jobs. It was bad enough when they signed all those free trade agreements but this is bringing the whole sell-out onto our own soil. That just is not right.

I am totally gob-smacked that they would really do this to us.

So how many Canadian workers actually applied for the job that met that criteria?

No idea, but from my reading on the matter there were several Canadian applicants for the positions. The requirement to speak Mandarin was not in the job description from what i've learned, and they were disqualified for not being Mandarin-speaking.

HD Mining also advertised specifically for workers who speak Mandarin

Read more: http://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/coal-mine- ... z2CVponSkI

So those that applied for the positions and could speak Mandarin would be in the position to challenge.

Pretty much. The language requirements are usually used as a means of exclusion for domestic workers. The company can they say "See? No local workers meet our qualification parameters."
