Kitsault, BC

Post by grammafreddy »

I've never heard of this place. Imagine just abandoning a whole town and leaving the lights on when you go. Incredible!

The video talks about this man buying and restoring the town and wanting to have it liveable by 2011 - anyone know what's happening there now? It's a beautiful location.

some background - I remember this story

In 2005, Kitsault made international headlines when American health-care entrepreneur Krishnan Suthanthiran bought the townsite – consisting of about 100 houses and seven apartment buildings, along with a hospital, pub and theatre – for an undisclosed price after it was listed for sale at $7-million.

I remember this story as well, but why on earth did she say it lies in the rain-shadow?

Several years ago there was adocumentry on Kitsault. There was at that time one guy still working there, keeping the grass cut!! I thought that would be a great job!

The website is interesting.

Yup, beautiful place for three months if you can survive the mosquito's and black flies. Other 9 months not so nice weather wise. I'll stay here thanks.

I dunno, the story did say it was in the rain shadow, so if this is true, it means they experience pretty good weather. Either way winters would be at least mild as Kelowna.

The downside would be the mosquitoes and isolation.
