But it seems that there is a conciliatory tone from both the BCTF and BCPSEA. Leave them alone and let them work on it. I think they are BOTH tired of the useless back and forth that has existed for way too long!

For once, I agree with you. I also think that the main stakeholders in all of this nonsense are tired of being ignored. The kids and the parents are tired of being used as pawns by the evil BCTF. The taxpayers are tired if paying for it all, and tired of beingg fed the lie by the BCTF that they are being so combatitive because they care about kids. This is such a massive joke. The whole class size argument is just a straw man. All the BCTF cares about is money.
Not afraid to say "It".

There's no easy answer. But getting all emotional & grandstanding only makes things worse.

I love the line the union is greedy but not the teachers, Could not have come
from a teacher for sure. Like all other unions the teachers as members are the
union. When you are there as a union rep, your job is to get as much as you
can for the members. The union is the bargaining agent for the membership.
People fail to understand that. Secondly you never expect to get what you
demand its what bargaining is all about.
Now for the ten year contract any union or bargaining agent would have to be
touched in the head to even think seriously about such a proposal. The people
who proposed such an agreement did so to spark discussion and they did so.
If i were a teacher or a union person and the negotiating committee brought
such a proposal I would be asking for a new team at the table.
