Liberals call Conservatives "Scum and Morons"

Post by George+ »

Wow!

Liberals attack all Conservatives over Pat Bell controversy:

Kind of blew Clark's ant-bullying day.

Kevin Krueger the MLA for Kamloops has always said many things before thinking. Very outspoken and harsh. This was the same guy who wanted to remove the speed limit on the Coquihalla a few years back. Talking about Morons? I think he needs to have a wee look in the mirror! And, yes it was the wrong day to say those words; Anti-bullying day. He doesn't really care though, as he has chosen not to run again in May (as IF he would get re-elected anyways) AND he gets his Fat MLA pension to boot.

Yup 1 step forward in teaching our kids the respect they need to show in treating others. Then 2 steps back with the examples set before us by people like Kevin Krueger and Bill Bennett, pretty hypocritical to wear the pink shirt while actually bulling.

I have seen some bizarre stuff at the legislature over the years, like the time Liberal Mike de Jong whipped out a fake bomb during a debate and invited the NDP to blow themselves up.

Or the time Liberal tough guy Rick Thorpe ambushed then-premier Glen Clark in the hallway and threatened to punch his lights out.

Clark wisely backed away. And Thorpe said he received a "warm round of applause" the next day from customers at an A&W restaurant in Penticton.

All notable examples of why B.C. politics have always been considered wild and wacky.

But listening to politicians hurl insults like "scum" and "morons" and "idiots" — all while wearing their pink shirts on anti-bullying day — scores right up there on the weird-o-meter.

Hot-headed Liberal Kevin "Foghorn" Krueger got the pink-hued slimefest rolling with an extraordinary email he blasted at the rival B.C. Conservative Party and its leader John Cummins.

Krueger lost it after the Conservatives issued a news release demanding the resignation of Liberal cabinet minister Pat Bell.

Bell's on the hot seat over a controversial land deal in his riding in Prince George.

"Mr. Cummins, and everybody involved in this news release, are unmitigated MORONS to have published such crap as this," Krueger fumed.

"Pat Bell is beloved in Prince George. There is not one of you scum worthy to tie his shoes — nor tall enough.

"What idiots you are."

Krueger, decked out in pink to mark anti-bullying day at the legislature, refused to apologize Wednesday, though he did say he regretted his choice of words.

But his Liberal colleague, cabinet minister Bill Bennett, wasn't prepared to give an inch.

"I would agree with him on the 'moron' comment," said Bennett, also wearing pink to promote peace, love and understanding at the people's snake pit.

Neither man seemed vaguely aware of the irony of wearing pink to set an example for children while slinging vicious cheap shots at their own playground enemies.

"That's baloney," Bennett said when asked if the Liberals were being bullies on anti-bullying day.

"This is a rough business. It's a contact sport. Kevin's given them [the B.C. Conservatives] back a little bit of what they give us."

None of which does any favours for Premier Christy Clark, who made a name for herself as an anti-bullying champion when she was a CKNW talk-show host.

The silliness punctuated yet another difficult and damaging week so far for Clark, who can't seem to catch a break as a May reckoning with voters draws steadily near.
