This sound has been heard all over the planet: Canada, Australia, the USA, Central America, South America, Europe and Russia....... a hoax is doubtful IMO.

It has been on the news around the planet due to witnesses calling in. Different scientific explanations have been put forth, but because it is on YouTube, it is immediately related to "flying spaghettini monsters"? LOL

Due to strong solar flares, the lines of Earth's magnetic field are stretched out until the pop. They come back in, bothering the Earth's atmosphere - creating strange sounds.

I can't speak to that, I don't know much about solar flares or the geomagnetic field, but I would have to agree that it certainly doesn't sound like any kind of "snapping" or "popping" noise.

If someone said there was a conspiracy that people would be playing these sounds on loudspeakers around the world and never getting caught, right away you'd hear about how this would be impossible because it would take too many people and how could they all keep it a secret and so on. Now it's the other way around... no comments about the big secret?
