You are not reading carefully Lonewolf. BC puts back less of its agricultural GDP than any other province, not of its provincial GDP; that is to say that for every dollar that is made from farming in this province, our government puts less of that back into the industry than any other province. It is remarkable to compare this with Saskachewan, given as you say, that it is "one big field", you might think that our province with so many different micro-climates and different types of agricultural projects ranging from cranberries to peach-plums, not to mention that we do grains too, that we might need to invest more relative to our agricultural output than Saskatchewan, but no our provinvial government spends a lot less than any other relative to the size of their respective industries. The other factor is that producers of major crops (Saskatchewan) get lots of help from the private sector already who are happy to do research and register products for this group, but try growing nectarines in this province; nobody cares about you, not even Monsanto will spend the money to register products for you. This has nothing to do with the forrest industry. Our provincial govt simply isint interested. If you arnt sure just ask the Minister of Agriculture if you can figure out who that is, I cant, the name has kept changing every few months ever since Christy Clark came to office. Shame on her for running for office in the Okanagan. She gives a flip about this place.
