Dogs die from heat exposure
http://www.castanet.net/edition/news-story-115493-3-.htm#115493
Absolutely terrible.
The search for six dogs reportedly stolen out of the back of a pickup truck at a Langley park appears to have ended with a shocking and tragic twist.
According to Petsearchers Canada, which was helping in the investigation, the woman who was walking the dogs has allegedly admitted to leaving the animals in the back of the truck on a hot day – and that all of them died of heat exhaustion.
“The dogs had water, the side vents on the vehicle were open, nonetheless it was a very hot day and they perished,” said Petsearchers spokesman Al MacLellan.
"I'm just devastated for the families," said Petsearchers' Alesha MacLellan. "Throughout the whole search there was always a glimmer of hope that perhaps one or two of the dogs was okay somewhere.”
The allegations have not been confirmed by police.
The dog walker had reported the dogs were in the back canopy of a pickup truck while it was parked at Brookswood Dog Park near 206 Street and 44th Avenue.
At the time, the dog walker told police she had left the truck briefly so she could use the washroom and the dogs were gone when she returned. She said the back canopy had been unlatched.
Attempts to reach the dog walker for comment have proved unsuccessful.
According to their website, Petsearchers Canada is "a Vancouver area based Pet Detective and Bloodhound tracking service committed solely to the task of reuniting lost and stolen pets with their loving families."
Absolutely terrible.

It's bad enough when people are stupid and do this to their own pets, but this woman was supposed to be caring for other people's pets!

Just allegations at this point. Going to be tough for her to live this down either way.

This is a terrible dishonesty. My goodness for how long would the six of them have had to be in there?

Sadly, Langley RCMP can now confirm the six dogs that went missing on Tuesday of last week are deceased.
The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been laid at this time. Police believe the six dogs perished in the back of the dog walker's vehicle in the heat of the day.
The bodies of the dogs have been located and will be recovered by the SPCA.
RCMP will continue their investigation into Public Mischief.
Conduct of the investigation into the alleged mistreatment of the dogs will turned over to the SPCA. We will continue to assist the SPCA with their investigation.

Very sad!
My Wife asked me if I knew what her favorite flower was?

Gee, because our laws regarding animals are so wonderful in this country, I'm thinking she'll get a big big sentence - like a slap on the wrist, and a $100 fine. I hope this woman's lively hood is DONE. Professional MORON as far as I'm concerned. And if it was one of my dogs, she would be finding herself in court. The "system" wouldn't be enough for me.

I would imagine there would be a charge for filing a false police report at the very least.

Whoopie. That's the "mischief" charge the media is talking about.

I'd think filing a false report to the police AND the illegal dumping of remains?
Such a sad outcome.

This might affect her dog-walking career.
