Good to know they were so organized getting this process happening. They say they pushed the mandatory registration date back to give riders more time. I think its because there are so many questions not answered yet, they can't even decide if they should issue a plate or a decal! Like who wants to have a plate on something that crashes so much, it'll cut you up real good if you hit it wrong!

This program will assist in finding stolen ATV's and dirt bikes about as much as a single person will get charged for the recent destruction of our back country during the may long weekend, as seen on Global news.
All that garbage left behind by party animals, the ones with plates on their trucks, and we will not hear of a single max. fine after hundreds of them obviously parked at these sites in the back country. And we are going to find one stolen machine or someone destroying a meadow.
Point is there is no enforcement, Probably lack of funding, and never a actually meaningful financial charge being laid.
The authorities finding a stolen machine? How? no enforcement. A random stop to check numbers. Like how all the stolen F350's get caught?
stolen machines do not get sold at someone's home, in a city, with a bill of sale, with the persons DL number written down.
They are sold so far from the normal areas of patrol that the chances of finding one will be nil.
A plate! Now they will be stolen too and used on the stolen machines on farms and back country 100kms from paved roads, not at bear creek on a Sunday afternoon. If one buys an atv from a guy at a bar on Friday night with no bill of sale or ID,!!!!!!
If your bike is stolen and you report it with the numbers it is in the system, simple. Like now. However actually them finding it by randomly pulling a guy over at bear creek and checking the numbers?? good luck.
The program was implemented by our government, which means one thing, "its only here as a source of collecting more taxes"
Why are we so easily brain washed??

We definitely need more enforcement.

Doubling the amount of Conservation Officers would be a start, but this would still leave them the most thinly-stretched CO force in North America per km2.

Write your MLA. Demand more enforcement funding. If they are going to hammer people for back taxes, sure as hell they can help the environment by putting some more CO's boots on the ground.

Agreed, they need much more enforcement and the enforcement officers need some real teeth to get things done.
Consider how hard it is to change yourself and you'll understand what little chance you have of changing others.

Agreed, exactly why this whole program is nothing more than a means of collecting millions upon millions of extra tax revenue.
Now, if every penny of the funds brought in, whether from taxes or other was put back solely into the area it is being brought from then we could all agree an acceptable program. Or maybe even half of the millions to hire more Conservation officers to, not only chase offenders on ATV's,but to spend long weekends charging the losers that caused all the destruction last weekend, then ok.
But, we all need to understand that if our government was not going to collect all these extra millions of dollars then this program would never have been entertained in the first place.
