Posting employment stats from July 2016 means nothing in November 2017. When someone comes up with some new stats (which I've been unable to find, except for the link I provided) then we can discuss the layoffs this winter.
In other words you do not have a clue if there will be more than 60 people laid off or not. 60 workers can come and go from a site like that weekly, even daily at times. There will certainly be some laid off but that is normal on any construction site, certainly on one this size. No news here.
Consider how hard it is to change yourself and you'll understand what little chance you have of changing others.

No news yet, because it hasn't been posted yet. However, it's only reasonable to think there will be more layoffs in winter. I think you've mentioned that you've worked on construction sites previously, and some of those sites must have been in northern climates. The workers I've known have always had layoffs in the winter. You must have been very fortunate if you never had that experience.

Like I said it is normal. Yes I was lucky because when I hit the site most of my work was year around. You have to remember that the forecast man hours for the job take all of that into consideration. Totally normal, not new news, but I think you knew that.

And here's to hoping if that happens they all show up at your house for the holidays. We'll see who's laughing then.
FWIW I happen to think only a truly sick mind can be so happy about 2000 people losing their jobs.

What I know is what I wrote. There are always layoffs in the winter to a construction site in northern climates such as the Peace. I find it odd that anyone would continue to post employment stats for the summer months. Well, maybe not so odd on this thread.

The People of Site C
The People of Site C is our way of telling the stories of the workers who are building the largest public infrastructure project in the history of BC—the stories that can get lost in midst of political debate.
The provincial government has directed the British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) to complete an inquiry weighing the possibility of suspending or terminating the Site C Clean Energy Project, putting over 2,000 workers in a position of uncertainty. Many people, including over 1,000 CLAC members, have already built their lives around the project, injecting new energy into the Peace River economy.
The People of Site C are proud to be working on a project that will provide clean, renewable energy for their communities for decades. We are taking this opportunity to celebrate their hard work, and the legacy that they continue to build.
CLAC will continue to support its members, and all the workers on the Site C Project, by sharing their stories, advocating for their jobs, and ensuring that our government considers the impact of their decisions upon the People of Site C.

Kill the dam, don't need it. As for the workers, move on to other jobs or get training in the high tech industry, because that's where all the new good jobs are going to be.

So, the 2016 stats are too old, and now the latest available for Sept. 2017 are from the Summer months.
Even if they lay off those 60 concrete specialists, the change from 2016 to 2017 is still up 650 jobs.

Yeah because we all know that once completed dams just look after themselves, and generate electricity without oversight or maintenance.

So you don't believe that compensating a few folks, and inconveniencing them, is a valid thing given the greater good?
