Quite interesting to see how that poll completely contradicts the rubbish one that Desmog and their allies published and touted.

The poll does not surprise me. I would have hoped there would have been more people smart enough to be for it. I guess when we were dumb enough to elect Horgan and the NDP (not actually!!!!!!) it should be expected. I would like to know the real truth about the Kinder Morgan pipeline expansion.

Interesting that in that poll those who identified as Liberals were overwhelming in favour of Horgan's decision to finish the Site C dam project. Even more interesting is the fact that NDP supporters and Green supporters also were in favour of Horgan's decision. It was close with the Green supporters but those who supported completing the dam edged out those who didn't. For a long time some of us have been saying that those who wanted the project scuttled were in the minority and of course we were told we were dead wrong. Well we were right and Horgan was right to announce that the Site C dam would be completed.

Agreed, yet despite that, Weaver still thinks he can somehow bring it to a halt.Then again perhaps that's just lip service, and all for show, to not upset his voter base. After all he was for the project at one point in time.

Two First Nations groups have launched legal action to halt the construction of the Site C dam.
West Moberly and Prophet River First Nations have combined forces to file civil actions for Treaty Infringement and Injunctions to stop construction of the Site C hydroelectric project.
The West Moberly and Prophet River First Nations have filed notices of civil action alleging that the Site C hydroelectric project, together with the two previous dams on the Peace River, infringes on their constitutional rights under Treaty 8.
“The cumulative impact of the Bennett, Peace Canyon and Site C Dams is to turn the Peace River into a series of reservoirs, destroying the unique cultural and ecological character of the Peace, severing the physical, practical, cultural and spiritual connection the Prophet have with the Peace, and infringing [West Moberly and Prophet’s] Treaty Rights.” Says, Chief Roland Wilson, West Moberly First Nations.
The motion was filed in B.C. Supreme Court Monday.
The NDP Government decided to move forward with the project earlier this month.
The First Nations legal team is led by senior litigation counsel Reidar Mogerman of Camp Fiorante Matthews Mogerman. They intend to apply for the disclosure of documents which to-date have been redacted or withheld from public scrutiny.
“We need more information about the project’s schedule, budget, and ongoing geotechnical challenges to accurately estimate the implications of suspending construction until our Treaty infringement claims are decided at trial,” said Chief Roland Willson of the West Moberly First Nations.
“We’re not just asking the court to save the Peace River valley, but to save British Columbians billions of dollars by scrapping this ill-conceived, outmoded, and unneeded boondoggle unravelling in plain sight,” stated Chief Lynette Tsakoza.

^^ completely expected. One group are just disturbers and the other has a pecuniary eye on wind power. Recent SCOC decisions mean they are extremely unlikely to get very far. Pretty hard to answer the question of "and then what?" when one of the groups who have a deal with BC Hydro have threatened to sue if site C does not go ahead.
This kind of stuff has just become part of the landscape as environut groups and wind/solar industry groups use (in the worst sense of the word) small bands in an attempt to benefit themselves.

On one of his recent podcasts Bill Good made a good point. He said that people often make the mistake of thinking that social media mirrors public opinion. The anti-Site C rhetoric out there could have lead one to believe that approving Site C would be political suicide for Horgan. But along comes that Angus Reid poll that shows just the opposite.
Twice as many British Columbians want the dam completed as don't. A majority are in favour of completing the dam and only 26% are not in favour. I know that we have some far-left radicals on here who told some of us we were wrong when we said that most people wanted the project to be completed. They need to get off of social media for a while and talk to real people.

It's easy to get into an echo chamber, be it left or right, with the online world the way it is now. If you truly believe something to be true, you are going to naturally gravitate to sites and social media that confirm those beliefs and biases. People should always be challenging their personal beliefs and what they believe as true. As Mark Twain said - “It ain’t what you don’t know that gets you into trouble. It’s what you know for sure that just ain’t so".

Oh for sure, in fact they emphatically stated numerous times that 65% of people in BC were against Site C.
I guess they were only out by about 40% give or take a few. Phew that was a close one.

Yeah....that becomes a problem when people don't do their own fact checking and research anymore. They have become so lazy that they stop reading after they find a headline that supports what they wanted. This has been witnessed MANY times just on these forums alone.
People are in such a hurry today, and don't bother to do their homework and read all of the information, both pro and con to what they feel. This will become this latest generation's downfall. I am glad that I won't be around long enough to watch what they are going to do to themselves.
