Stolen teddy bear?
Must be a slow news day if this makes the headlines. Also, the guy was interviewed by CBC news and the police are involved? Although I must say, if this is the worst thing to happen in your neighbourhood it's a good day!

just at a glance it does look like kind of a big deal to the people in that neighborhood. i'd be upset!
Leroy, a five-foot-tall stuffed teddy bear, is missing.
The stuffed bear has watched over its owner’s Coal Harbour neighbourhood for 11 years, posing for passersby on its Vancouver patio when the weather is nice.
Its owners say it’s become the unofficial mascot for the neighbourhood.
