Women's issues are so politically powerful that there is a woman currently running for President of the United states under Criminal Investigation. She literally has played the "women card" and produced cards that say "I'm voting for a woman". Ask any Hillary supporter the top 3 reasons they are voting for her - one reason will always be that she has female genitalia.
Women's issues are so politically powerful that there was only one reporter in Canada (Christine Blatchford) who dared not to call Ghomeshi a scum-sucking-bile-of-the-earth before the accused ever saw his day in court. Women's issues absolutely destroyed the polices and Crowns ability to conduct a proper investigation and the entire country was ready to lynch a innocent man. Every politician in the country jumped onto the wagon and threw insults at Ghomeshi and wrapped themselves in a women's-issues-blanket - there are tonnes of op-ed pieces in newspapers across Canada proving my point. It was a free for all with political points for anyone who wanted to pile on Ghomeshi.
Obama said : " There isn't a job a man can do that a women can't do better". As a politician try reversing the sexes in that statement and see how long you keep your office.
I respectfully disagree. Women's issues are as much of a political winner as dropping "9/11" was in the 10 years after 9/11.

If you think Clinton has played the woman card you are dead wrong. She happens to be the most experienced candidate who has ever run. She's running on her credentials not vagina power. The reason most of my American friends are voting for her is 3 million more people did in the primaries and Bernie didn't make the cut. You are the first person I have ever heard reference voting for her because she's a woman.

She is under a criminal FBI investigation due to her selling influence out of the State Department for 4 years and approving drone strikes on her illegal unsecure blackberry (among other things). If she were a man she wouldn't be able to run.

I liked it before the edit BTW. It was pretty funny.
I don't think for a second if everything was the same aside from her being a woman it wouldn't have played out the same. She represents the corrupt establishment to me regardless of gender. Anyway this the wrong topic to continue this discussion.

Well, looking over this thread, it appears that the majority feel the issue (sexual abuse, violence against women) is worthy of discussion; however, the vehicle (Christy Clark) was not well received.
It seems that her veracity is open to question, which I am not at all surprised about.

Nah, I don't think so. The Christy Clark government has clawed back too much money from rape crisis/sexual assault centres for me to believe she's sincere about this. I willing to bet Christy will increase the funding to rape crises/sexual assault centres back to their previous funding levels, then she'll try pass that off as showing her compassion...

Are those really cuts? Or did someone submit a budget for $11.2 million and only got $10 million approved?
I'm always cynical when socialists claim "budget cuts" and I always seem to find that they are whining about the difference between their wish list and approved funding.

Yes, the left is famous for calling any funding that doesn't meet what they think is appropriate as cuts to funding. It was the same lies they pushed on the Conservatives when they said increased funding to health care was cuts, and when the evil boneheads at the BCTF called spending increases in education cuts. *removed*

Most of us on here are pretty good at excoriating politicians and I could say that when John Horgan is saying that more money should be spent on "X" that he's trying to sway voters. But if I were to be fair (and I try to be) I would say that Horgan probably cares about "X" and really wants to make things better. So how about this: Christy Clark is a politician who wants people to vote for her AND she really cares about the issues of bullying and sexual assault.
