Rich BC Woman steals dog from Greece family.

I am so infuriated by Monique Wilberg’s sense of entitlement, Rich Canadians Stealing from greeks giving us a horrible name.
Monique was the former CEO of Gateway Casinos
I hope she gets a huge public backlash, this Is theft and I don't believe a word she says.
But Atsikbasis's daughter says Max wasn't Wilberg's to take.
"She might have fallen in love with him, but you don't do that sort of thing for a good cause … I don't know what the law is in Canada, but maybe if you have a dog for a month or two, maybe it's officially yours?"
Holding back tears, she adds, "I would go all the way to Canada just to see him … I would want to go up to her door, ring the bell and I would beg her to give Max back if I could."
It's a sentiment echoed by her mother.
"We want to get our family member back," says Atsikbasis. "You don't take someone else's animal."

What a hoot. The proverbial tempest in a (fill in the blank). But I'm surprised the Canadian woman was able to bring the dog all the way from Greece to North Vancouver without some sort of ownership or other papers. With the apparent confusion over whether the pooch could or couldn't have a holiday in North America, I wouldn't go so far as to characterize the transaction as theft.

Dogs may enter Canada if they are accompanied by a rabies vaccination certificate.
Rabies Vaccination Certificate
The European Union pet passport is an acceptable alternative to the rabies vaccination certificate as long as all the required elements outlined below are included.
The rabies vaccination certificate must:
*be written in English or French;
*be issued and signed by a licensed veterinarian;
*identify the animal (breed, sex, colour, and weight);
*state that the animal is vaccinated against rabies;
*indicate the date of vaccination;
*indicate the trade name and the serial number of the licensed vaccine; and
*specify the duration of immunity (otherwise, it will be considered valid for one year from the date of vaccination).

Dance as if no one's watching, sing as if no one's listening, and live everyday as if it were your last.
Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.

I feel so sad for the little 16 year old who lost her companion. The woman should send the dog back, there are many strays and neglected animal in our own back yards that could use her help. So sad!
Sell your cleverness and buy bewilderment.

What's even worse is this lady has used lies to justify her abhorrent behavior.
Weather is recorded. We can verify the veracity of her statements. The article stated that she arrived Dec 31 and that she "cared for Max" for a month. Great. Let's look at January in Lesbos:
It was a reasonably sunny month, in the winter.
There was one day where the temperature was below zero. It doesn't generally snow or ice up when you're constantly above zero. The max for that day was also +5. Presumably it was sunny and clear - in the middle of winter - and overnight temperatures dipped into the red.
Did it snow?
Nope.
Did it rain?
Yup - there were a few wet days there.
I can't lookup up wind on "Weatheronline.co.uk" as it's a premium option. But the above doesn't really align with the "cold, freezing, blizzard" weather that Ms. Wilburg has portrayed. I think we have a well-off, entitled woman who saw something she must have and decided to take it under false pretenses. She's even renamed the dog to her own preference. When questioned, she's justifying her actions by presenting false information. I sincerely doubt the veracity of the rest of her story.
She claims there were below freezing temperatures, gale force winds, torrential rain, snow and an ice storm in the month she cared for Max.

I'd like to change your mind, but I don't have a fresh diaper.

The easier thing for that family instead of spending lots of money to fly half way around the world is to just get another dog
