Costumes and garb: the difference please.
How crazy is this:
http://www.castanet.net/edition/news-st ... htm#173585
Is their manner of dress truly "dangerous" and distracting or would it have been charming to see them in the gardens?
The SCA, Society of Creative Anachorisms, sees their dress as "garb" and not costumes. And this couple see themselves as normally dressed too, for the lifestyle of their choice.
I think this is a big black eye for Canada and sanity. Escorted out and truly an unpleasant experience? Here?
I'm sickened by this.

As WW3 develops, no one is going to be dissing the "preppers." What have you done?

It's a disgrace. If you show up wearing a horse costume, a superhero costume then I can understand the objection. These are perfectly acceptable clothes if rather out of fashion.
I certainly hope no Amish show up......in fact, that man looks like a lot of hipsters I see. lol
The staff claiming this is a dangerous distraction is simply an insult to everyone's intelligence - and a telling indictment of theirs.

I get the spirit of this rule, which many attractions have in place. You can't go into Disneyland in a Mickey Mouse mascot costume. Butchart did offer to allow the couple entry if the woman would only remove her hat, which she refused to do...because a Victorian lady would never do so.
I wonder if Butchart management is re-thinking their interpretation of "costume".

When someone says they pay taxes, you know they're about to be an ******e.

Just a bunch of non-sense. How would removing their hats make that much of a difference to the park?
The gardens must have been concerned that people would think these people were part of the attraction, but who cares.

Re: Costumes and garb: the difference please.
I think the reasoning is lame.
That said, if their rules state no costumes and you come dressed as a clown...too bad.
Just because you choose to dress as a clown every day, doesn't make what you wear less of a costume.
They both look ridiculous as far as daily street clothes.
If they were dressed to work at Barkerville or something along those lines I can let it go, but to choose that in 2016 is not gonna pass as anything but a choice to wear a costume.
No costumes allowed.
Get out, and take your filthy, stinking beard with you.
Good GAWD. Do they toss their dung out the kitchen window, too?
How 'bout storing meat and cheese?
Do they peel the black off and salt the pink?
freaks
