Same truck cost me 60 a month more in bc that in Alberta. Better coverage for less in Alberta. In sask witch is also govt insurance it was better still than alberta and costs were much lower like 800 a year for full coverage there

So in your opinion government insurance is cheaper and better.
Are you able to define what makes it better? Higher limits? extended coverage?

Do you think there is a geographical difference between BC and Sask?

The difference comes in the form of top-loading.

There are too many executive higher ups doing too little for way too much $$$$
at ICBC.
Sask. last time I had direct experience with is still run by Tommys' original design.
Keep it simple. Don't top-load. Don't steal from yourself.
Provide affordable insurance. Maintain a Government Insurance Salvage operation.

Actually the differences are more complex than what appear on the surface.

When ICBC was set up by the NDP it was mandated to provide no-fault insurance (the most expensive kind) and to be limited to auto insurance in BC.

As far as I know, Ontario is the only other jurisdiction with no-fault insurance. Their private system has rates 30-40% higher than BC.

SGI, the Saskatchewan provider, in neither no-fault nor as limited in where it operates. Only 26% of their revenue comes from Saskatchewan. Their other big markets? Alberta (higher rates than Sask.) and Ontario (much higher rates than Sask.).

Remember in context, that the people of BC wanted both no-fault insurance and a strictly auto insurance company when they voted for Dave Barrett. That was after their experience with the private insurance suppliers causing no end of grief in getting claims settled etc. (that is a big issue with Ontario private insurance suppliers).

So apples to apples, you need to look at no-fault insurance. With only Ontario to compare to, ICBC looks PDG.
The middle path - everything in moderation, and everything in its time and order.

Highly doubtful any elected BC Government would get rid of ICBC, since usually adds couple hundred million to general revenue.
I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests.

The NDP initiated the crown corporation, ICBC, in order to keep the private insurance companies from ripping B.C. drivers off. British Columbians were very happy with ICBC until the BC Liberals took over in 2001, when as in all BC Liberal screw-ups, including BCMSP, BC Hydro, BC Ferries, BC Transit, it became a cash cow to be milked by an incompetent government in ever greater amounts in a vain attempt to balance their budget.

That's the truth, and I challenge any BC Liberal supporter to come up with a believable rebuttal.

It would be more correct to state that the pseudo liberal BC government has deliberately sabotaged the NDP creation of ICBC out of spite and vengeance for their former Socred overlords...
