Big unions don't have to "pay to play" with the NDP, they control the NDP.
The NDP gets about 23% of it's donations from unions , whilst the Liberals get about 73% of their donations from corporations and non corporate business.
Have a look at the political contributions list from elections BC for 2015 - present, you will find 137 pages of donations to the liberal party , many of which are in the multiple thousands of $$ totaling $ 9,379,438 , and you will find 440 pages of donations to the NDP , most of which are in tens to hundreds dollars or totaling $ 2,006,488
Interpret that however you wish. I interpret it as big business controls the Lieberals.
The Hospital Employees Union ( pretty big union represents 46,000 members ) donated $ 16,000 to the NDP
The New car dealers of BC donated $ 62,000 to the Lieberals , and that does not include hundreds of donations in the
individual donations made in the name of each different dealership.
Unions control NDP = myth
Rich corporations control Lieberals = fact

au contraire alfred , many of the same corporations donated quite heavily to the NDP in 2012/2013 because it appeared that the NDP was going to win the election. They were probably hoping that the NDP would do favors for them once elected , JUST LIKE THE LIBERALS HAD BEEN DOING FOR 8 YEARS.
The truth is infinitely more relevant than your regurgitated anti NDP rhetoric.

From the story:
Lapointe said in an interview Sunday that he is concerned no government has taken legal action nearly three years after the tailings pond collapse.
Inaction sends a dangerous message to other mining companies, he said. "It basically says that you can do whatever you want in Canada."
And from Wikipedia :
The controlling shareholder of Imperial Metals is billionaire N. Murray Edwards. He donated half a million dollars in campaign contributions to the B.C. Liberal party since 2005 and helped organize a $1-million fundraiser for B.C. Premier Christy Clark’s re-election.[21]

Shachi Kurl of Angus Reid was on the radio this morning talking about people's perceptions and she said that on this issue people understand that the NDP certainly doesn't have the moral high ground. Most people don't like hypocrisy and that's what they're getting from the NDP. In spades.

Re: BC Liberals continue with cash for access
Donating in hopes of political favors is somewhat crooked.
Taking the money is somewhat crooked.
Completing the circle by favoring corporations that have donated is corruption. The BC Liberals do this on a daily basis , and award large government contracts to benefactors whilst ignoring those who don't donate. The have even gone so far as compiling lists of "prefered vendors" , so that people they don't like don't even get the chance to bid.
Here is a sample before you even try to call BS :
*** Amendment #2 - Change of submission address, no need to respond if already prequalified.
This request for qualifications is to create a list of prequalified General Contractors for projects over $200,000.00. Only those on the prequalified list will be invited to bid on Stipulated Sum CCDC2 projects for Interior Health. This notice is not for any one specific project; this is for all Stipulated Sum projects over $200,000.00.
There is no close date - please ignore the December close as it is only there because BCBid requires an input into this field. General Contractors may submit at any time.
General contractors who have already been prequalified do not need to resubmit their qualification unless notified by Interior Health.
This prequalification is not intended for Construction Managers, Suppliers or Sub-trades it is only intended for General Contractors.
The list of prequalified general contractors can be found on the Interior Health Website
http://www.interiorhealth.ca/AboutUs/Bu ... dding.aspx
This is only 1 example of the "prefered vendors" scam. Have a look at road building projects , which are also awarded to "prefered vendors" , then have a look at who was awarded contracts. Then compare the lists of successful bidders to a list of BC Liberal donors . ANYONE who claims there is not a significant similarity in the 2 lists is in total denial mode.
After the Lieberals are tossed out on their enlarged butts in May , you are welcome to scrutinize the new government to your hearts content , and do the taxpayers a favor.
For now , every taxpayer has the right to do exactly the same , with Christy's BS.

If the NDP had the first clue about the businesses that keep food on BCers' tables, they'd get some corporate donations too.
As it stands, the NDP couldn't peddle water in the desert. And corporate BC knows that, and does what it takes to keep the NDP from ruining BC's economy again.

Where is your proof that a lot of money was donated, or are you pulling figers out of your a__?

It is a matter of public record alfred , not hard to do the research for yourself.
I know that pulling stuff out of your a__ is easier , as evidenced by your posts.
Your credibility #'s are dropping about as fast as Christy's disapproval #'s are going up.
Sorry to have to break the news to you.

Just because they say they are not selling influence to the highest bidder does not mean they are being truthful and it would seem 76% agree Christy Clark BC Liberals are liars who will say anything. Litteraly anything to convince the low information voter they are not liars.

Re: BC Liberals continue with cash for access
So the Liberals have fund raisers that cost money, and the NDP have fund raisers that cost money, even more in some instances, so why are you being selective in your wrath?
The Liberals are tight with business, which at least in the long term translates into benefits for the working class, while the NDP are tight with public service sector unions, something that doesn't benefit the working class in the slightest, on the contrary brings with it a high probability of hurting that class.
I'm not inclined to throw anyone to the wolves, when everyone is using the same playbook.

We no longer have a democracy in B.C.; we are ruled by an oligarchy called the BC Liberals.
Oligarchy - "a government in which a small group exercises control, especially for corrupt and selfish purposes".
