And here is the rub...

"The project would twin an existing pipeline between Edmonton and Burnaby, tripling its capacity and increasing tanker traffic in the Burrard Inlet seven-fold.

Castanet

Thanks for all the info. I see it's been posted on the Canada thread as well. There is no reason that these disreputable corporations, Kinder Morgan and TransMountain should be allowed to spill any more dilbit in our National Parks or anywhere else, for that matter. British Columbia's economy, contrary to BC Liberal opinion, does not depend on fossil fuel exports. It depends on a clean environment and every industry that depends on that.

Vancouver harbour is already at risk for devastating oil spills. Even that little bunker fuel spill last summer adversely affected our sea life. Ditto two diesel spills this year, one near Bella Bella and the other in the Broughton Archipelago, which destroyed clam beds and other fisheries. Tripling a pipeline's capacity and inviting more tanker leaks or spills is insane.

Justin Trudeau and Christy Clark are complicit in wanting to destroy B.C.'s environment and consequently, its economy. We must not let them. Please make your voice heard on May 9. The greedy, corrupt BC Liberals must go.

Yeah, Castanet, and another 'rub.'

Fact: Kinder Morgan is pulling a 63-year-old section of line out of mothballs in Jasper National Park - Mount Robston Provincial Park and putting it back in service.

Alt-fact: “ . . . during a public forum about the company’s Trans Mountain pipeline expansion project, a media relations employee stated there had never been an oil spill in Jasper National Park. Full stop.”

Fact: “Jasper National Park and Mount Robson Provincial Park was home to not one, but six oil spills, including the second largest spill in the pipeline’s 63-year history.”

“Trans Mountain’s credibility on the line”

Hope you have more guts than the CBC

Other media has.

When this story broke, I asked the CBC (national and Edmonton) if they would cover it.

So far, no action.

However, the Huffington Post picked it up.
