On the topic, I don't expect much common sense to flow from an NDP-infested Surrey council on road decisions, so I have to agree with the OP that it's a mistake putting this road through the park.

Have you ever heard of Stanley Park? Glacier National Park? Yoho? Jasper? Banff? Vaseaux? Seriously, lots of parks have roads right though them.

And it's been given the "go ahead', a highway through wetlands, just like in Vernon.

So I guess you, Rwede and I can just say another prayer for the vertebrates and invertabrates which inhabit the wetlands and surrounding environmental area. Not that a prayer does a damn thing for them.

A divisive new project which calls for a two-lane road cut through Hawthorne Park has been given the green light by Surrey City Council.

The controversial project has been kicked around since the 80's. The connector is designed to ease traffic congestion on 104th Avenue in preparation for the proposed LRT construction.

The connector will run from the city centre to Guildford with the goal of easing traffic on 104th Avenue in preparation for the proposed LRT construction.

The city says the park will feature amenities like a wetland habitat for salmon rearing, more trees and pedestrian walkways.

In-spite of the modifications some residents still don't want it and environmentalist David Suzuki has been vocal in his opposition to the project.

Ya, the park will also feature vehicles of all descriptions. I guess the City Council said yes to progress.
