Actually, he ran a crappy campaign and doesn't deserve "the win", he just bumbled into a really naïve leader who should have known better than to swim in the NDP urine tank.

If Horgan had an actual mandate from the voters it would be difficult to swallow but that would be life. The way this all went down to make Horgan premier just makes me want to shower while vomiting because everyone involved just plain stinks.

Hobbyguy says that each party must stand on its own. Then how do you explain the Social Credit/Con/Lib/Reform party coalition called the BC Liberals?

Also, after trashing the NDP for 16 long years, why does the BC Liberal fan club suddenly want everyone to become 'politically correct'?

Been there, done that. Not over politics though :135:

GB, this alliance won't last long and an election will be called soon.
Why don't we start an Election Pool thread having everyone give their best guess as when this ends? :D

It's done. :D

Good idea. You can set up a Poll with ease! :D

Horgan ran a terrible campaign. He performed poorly in the leadership debates showing how easily he loses his temper and becomes all flustered. He has no real platform and he has absolutely no idea how he is going to pay for the promises he made.

What "win" does he deserve? He didn't get a "win", he placed second in a field of three.

I decided to have everyone pick their own dates off the calendar the way I've done. Let me know if it needs refining. :130:

You also have to be a blind party hack to blame your own teams screw ups on the other side. Then again why move away from standard NDP procedure right.

las - your argument is disingenuous. The NDP are a coalition of LEAPers and unionists. All political parties have a range of interests.

Like it or not, conservative and center right groupings, generally hold together better because they accept leadership. (Authoritarian tendencies are stronger at right of center than left of center, although at the far left and far right they merge into maximal authoritarianism, in dictatorships - that's where Mussolini meets Stalin back to back).

The NDP are particularly weak when it comes to cohesiveness, especially with a "leader" who did not want to be leader, and has not shown leadership on key issues within the party.
The middle path - everything in moderation, and everything in its time and order.

Someone hasn't been reading the NDP feedback regarding Clark for the last few years.

It truly isn't necessary to keep reminding readers how hypocritical the NDP tooters are.

Just to bring this up. She did get forced to advise her, but the LG DID make her own decision anyway. 1/2 points.

In fairness, I can understand why Clark was pulling out all the stops. Her party won more seats than any other party, her party won the popular vote, her party is riding high in the polls, and her government has presided over the economy that's the strongest in the country. By convention, as Andrew Weaver reminded us, the party that wins more seats than any other party gets the first chance to govern. Given all of that, turning over the government to the party that finished second wasn't very appealing. In a matter of days she'll no longer be the premier, flaming, so you'll perhaps want to turn your attention to what the NDP is doing. Just a thought.

Ah, so that is why she included 30 items in her Speech from the Throne that were plagiarized from the Greens and NDP platforms - you know, items that included party status for the Greens and elimination of corporate/union/outside the province donations &etc.... Items that were NOT even mentioned in the ChristyLiberal campaign until the very last gasp, the Throne Speech that gobsmacked the ChristyLiberal MLAs but which they used in their 3-day marathon to beg, plead and attempt to convince the opposition they really, really, REALLY were sincere in 'wanting to work across party lines'. What unmitigated *bleep*!!

However, they have rather painted themselves into a corner - when the NDP/Greens bring these proposals as bills and the ChristyLiberals obstruct their passing, it will be proven what irredeemable liars they have been and are. And what a manipulative, self-serving, lying 'premier' we have had for the past 6 years!!!
