British Columbia's NDP Government: 2017

http://globalnews.ca/news/3566740/b-c-g ... -liberals/

How long will it last?
What will Horgan's first moves be?
Who is going to get what portfolio?
And most of all....how will The Green Party fit in to all this?

And  most of all, who is never going to forgive the Liberals for allowing this to happen?

Here's Castanet's story on BC's new Premier John Horgan.

https://www.castanet.net/edition/news-s ... htm#200652

That's Premier John Horgan now.

Lt.-Gov. Judith Guichon asked Horgan to form the first British Columbia NDP government in 16 years, after the BC Liberals lost a vote of non-confidence in the legislature earlier Thursday.

"I have met with Premier Clark and will accept her resignation," said Lt.-Gov. Judith Guichon in a statement. "I have asked Mr. Horgan to form a government, he having assured me that he can form a government which will have the confidence of the Legislative Assembly."

But Horgan's government faces hurdles. Even with the support of the three Green members of the legislature, the NDP can only count on 44 votes in the 87-seat legislature, putting them in a precarious position.

No members of the legislature broke ranks in the confidence vote as the Greens backed the New Democrats' to defeat Premier Christy Clark's government, ending the Liberals 16 years in power.

The Liberals lost the vote 44-42.

Clark made an impassioned plea to members of the legislature to support her government, saying voters in May's election sent a message that they want the three parties to work together.

John will likely call for Liberal again even though when they tried to "work together" it wasn't his PMship so first it to take, then to request help in the name of "working together"

It will fail....or not...maybe someone says yes. But the mess remains, the math not been done. I feel the current plan is to let everyone get a good reminder of how bad the NDP manage anything, then have them removed. That's just my read on the Liberals.

ON the positive, it's not like Alberta where they have a guaranteed 4 years of crap.

None the less, the show will be fun and I'll watch as all parties buffoon about in different ways.

Steve Thomson would make a good speaker and is experienced now.

It will be the real test of Liberal cooperation.

The person who was in the Speakers chair today resigned, so a new Speaker is needed.
Which causes a deadlock in legislature 43 members on Government side.... 43 members of Opposition.
Looks like a stable House

Coalitions need to be banned - they go against the very core foundation of a democracy.

The people who voted for the Liberals, voted for their platform.
The people who voted for the NDP, voted for their platform.
The people who voted for the Greens, voted for their platform.

If the people who voted for the Greens wanted an NDP Government, they would have voted NDP.

Then of course, you have those who vote for another party simply based on their personal hatred toward a single individual.

Way to ruin a Government ... Bravo!
Nobody wants to hear your opinion. They just want to hear their own opinion coming out of your mouth.

Offering to meet in the middle and compromise on a number of platform ideas was a show of cooperation. It was met with a coup for personal power.

If you want to be king, provide your own knight, the Liberals made and effort, John wanted his name on the books, cooperation is not desired just power.

But good job in NDP fashion and blame everyone else for your own situation. John made his bed, now he can sleep in it, it has nothing to do with "working together" he showed he had no interest, so let him lead on his own.

He could have made an effort for 6 months then caused the government to fail but as said before he's a kid on prom night and so eager to get going he;'ll be finished before her bra is off and be out in the street.

In my defence she was both my MLA and our premier and I simply don't like her politics.

She could resign as Liberal leader but keep her MLA spot.
