I like Dianne Watts. She was a great mayor for surrey, and is probably the most popular choice.

Dianne Watts was smart enough not to accept a nomination last time. What makes you think she's lost her marbles now?

The only names I recognize on there I wouldn't want to see as leader, the rest I don't know so I can not make an informed decision.

Everyone on that list except Dianne Watts (former Suurrey mayor and present Con MP) and Kevin Falcon (former BC Liberal cabinet minister) are present BC Liberal MLAs. Some choice, eh?

I do not know them individually well enough to make an informed decision, so if I was interested in a pro-entrepreneur, pro higher-education, socially liberal, progressive, person who would you recommend? Oh, preferably someone who is book smart as well as politically so, as I prefer people who can see the nuances and don't consider "common sense" an alternative to actual facts and understanding.

So an liberal type would be considered suitable. I do not know any of the people Urbane has listed out either, but they have lots of time to figure it out. No rush.
Please edit "Horgan" to "Premier Horgan" to show solidarity towards a successful tenure. Remember: The NDP Government: 2017 thread is not in the Bickering Room.

Other: Brad Bennett.

Although, why he would set himself up for constant personal/family attacks and slander from the enlightened left is beyond me.

His family has devoted themselves to a lifetime of service to the community and the greater good, so perhaps he'd be game.

^^Every one of them save Kevin Falcon and Dianne Watts are current Liberal government MLAs. Diane Watts is presently a Conservative MP. There was considerable 'discussion'controversy about her during her terms as mayor. She 'might' work out - lord knows she is 100% more intelligent than Christy Clark, but how well does she understand provincial issues?

I thought my original choice was excellent, but the moderator didn't. I guess picking a guy from the USofA is a no-no. Since I wouldn't wish the BC Liberals on any reputable Canadian, I guess I'll have to suggest James Moore. He was one of Harper's henchmen and would fit right in with the BC Lib/Con crowd. I can't see any reason why Dianne Watts would change her mind if they approached her again this time.

I believe Dianne Watts will naturally be humble with her named being bantered about, but until she has enough years in at the federal level for a juicy pension, I suspect she will stay put.

There are nine (9) possible candidates listed for leader of the opposition (like typing that word "opposition"). Any way, I would go with whoever has the least amount of education, someone spineless and who can be easily manipulated by those 1%er 12 major Liberal Party Donors.
