Maybe some sort of alternative arrangement replaced the criminal charge option, something that would serve as an equally effective deterrent against similar behavior in the future? Depending on the type of therapy dog the cost can range from $5,000 for owner trained (with the help of certified trainers as needed and passing all applicable courses) up to $20,000+ for a professionally trained dog.
