BC Leads country in job losses for October

BC Leads country in job losses for October

Most provinces added jobs, led by a gain of 18,000 in Quebec. But three provinces had a net loss of jobs:

British Columbia: 6,100.
Saskatchewan: 4,000.
Prince Edward Island: 500.

Count on maybe 2000 more direct, along with many more indirect after Site C.

At least 200 of those lost jobs in BC were as a result of geotechnical and engineering problems at Site C. No doubt there were even more lay-offs due to weather, and many more to come as winter progresses. The Site C workers should take advantage of that down time and look for employment in the green infrastructure sector.

Never fear, BC is leading the country in study and task force job creation a la NDP style.

If Site C is cancelled the bad news from October will be just the tip of the iceberg.

I have no data to back it up but , I suspect that B.C. leads in job losses
at the tail of every year.
It is just the nature of the beast when many industries that we rely on here
are somewhat restricted by seasonal weather patterns.
Also, how many people flip their shingle and head South for a couple/few Months.

I've never seen the trend (or noticed) this anywhere else to the degree as in B.C.

^^ BC has 85% of its workforce living in the most favourable climate in Canada. To suggest that the job losses are weather-related when compared to the rest of Canada is pure fallacy. Unless, of course, nice weather means you have to lay people off - yeah, didn't think so.

There's one big, fat, disgusting reason for the loss of jobs in BC:

Uh...they already work in the Greenest of green infrastructure sectors, hydro-electric power. What other "green" infrastructure would they work on? Fraudulently "Green" wind garbage, or fraudulent "Solar" garbage?? No way.
Not sure why I bother with a signature as it seems to just randomly disappear on a regular basis. Especially if it offends liberal snowflakes.

Many forestry workers on the coast are shut down or about to because of weather and worse, logging companies closing their doors. Many after 50-90 years of being in business. Reason... not being able to make a reasonable return on the investment. Most timber holdings are tied up with just a few majors and they dictate what the logging rates are. The majors have a good return ( buy stock in West Fraser, Timber west for example) but the contractors not enough to maintain the equipment or pay the employees a decent wage for what they do and endure.
One company shuts down, up to 50 employees or more are looking for work.
Interior is not much better I understand.

What can the government do: Have the original intent of article 13 be reinstated. ( the rock was a mainstay of the dumb-dumb NDP)

But how could these GRUNTS as you call them get a job in the green sector.

Amazon to bring 1,000 new tech jobs to B.C.
Seattle-based company has announced plans to double its B.C.-based workforce to 2,000 by early 2020

CBC News Posted: Nov 03, 2017 9:59 AM PT Last Updated: Nov 03, 2017 9:59 AM PT

The announcement, made at a press conference held in downtown Vancouver, is unrelated to Amazon's plans to open a second headquarters.

Seattle-based technology giant Amazon has announced plans to bring 1,000 new jobs to B.C. by 2020.

This will double the current number of Amazon employees in B.C.

Alexandre Gagnon, Amazon's vice-president for Canada and Mexico, said the company will lease a new 4,500 square-metre building at 402 Dunsmuir Street — its second corporate office in Vancouver.

In a release, Premier John Horgan said he welcomed the move.

"We will build on Amazon's plans to bring 1,000 new jobs to B.C. by continuing to open up access to education and skills training," he said

Looks like Amazon is not worried about bringing business to BC under the NDP government, eh?
Why do people who fancy themselves "fiscal conservatives" not scream at hidden debt accumulated in the past dozen years? Or, do they only object to spending on social programs?
