????? My son is welding on a 42 inch gas line to the coast at the moment. Staying in Chetwynd .
So, yes many jobs have been lost but that should have been common knowledge.
If it's 'common knowledge', why are so many commenters on this thread so obviously unaware of it?

They aren't, it's just the ones in your circle moving through life blissfully unaware.

Who brought the oil and gas industry job losses up? And who's been whining constantly about the possibility of more job losses at Site C?
Crickets..........I thought so.

Pol Pot, The Rwanda Genocide, The Holocaust, those were crimes against humanity: it is understood you don’t like the NDP you will have your oppurtunity to get rid of them in the next election; but a crime against humanity good grief, exaggerate much?
Just saying.....,
OK, let's go with Crimes Against Sanity then.

The job loses at Site C would be caused by the NDP shutting the project down.

Yes that would be much more historically accurate.

.....,
More seriously - do you even comprehend or understand just how bad this NDP government truly is?

Even more seriously, do you even comprehend how trashing what you have an incomprehensible hatred for will never win any support for your position on anything?

Even more seriously, the hatred is comprehensible. The NDP always precipitates a downturn in jobs, unless one is chosen for a study or panel manufactured to allow access to the public teat.
Where's the furor, when the NDP always favors their union connected causes, over those of the rest of the populace?
They're already on the path to costing everyone else extra money with brain dead moves such as making all of us pay for the bridges in the lower mainland.
I'm sort of of the mind that once a plan is put in place to cover the cost of something, you don't change the rules after it's built.
What'd you lefties expect, we'd all throw a party upon finding out we get to pay for a bridge we'll never use, or be thrilled to see former Site C workers drawing EI instead of pay checks for building something we need?

But you don't mind the rest of the province paying for the William R. Bennett bridge - which the vast majority of these same people will never use, eh? Hypocrite!!

Construction workers - those workers at Site C - work themselves out of a job - they work for a few weeks/months and then when that phase of their work is done, they move on to the next job that lasts for a few weeks or months. That's the nature of construction....
You and your buds are trying to make out that Site C is providing full-time, well-paying jobs to the same 2,300 people from start of construction to the completion of the damn dam. You KNOW or SHOULD know that is not true... yet you still try to peddle that BS!!

What about all of the service personnel it takes?
Camp cooks.
Bull cooks.
Apprentice cooks.
Dozer operators
Truck drivers.
Welders
Mechanics
Carpenters
Blasters
Security persons
Bookkeepers
Electrictions
Plumbers
Gas fitters
equipment maintenance operators
belly dump drivers
Heavy duty tire repair personell
dishwashers
housekeepers
bus drivers
Are ALL of those jobs just temporary?
We are not talking about building 1 house, it is a 10 year long project. Some of the younger apprentices will obtain a lifelong job that they can take pride in telling their grandchildren that they were there from day one.

I've known a lot of construction workers over the years, and none of them ever worked over the Christmas holidays anyway.
