People who find the BC Libs political platform that suits the direction they'd like to see the Province go are the ones who would vote the BC Libs - and even in the last election, those people outnumber the people who's views are better represented by the NDP. That is the reality.

I'm sorry - has there been an election that confirms this statement? Last I checked, votes are what brings parties into power - not wishy washy ideological posts on a discussion forum.

Where do you come up with this stuff? Seriously? What evidence do you have to support such a ridiculous claim?

The majority of BC want the dam to go ahead. What part of this do you not understand? Do you honestly think that the NDP would vote in favour if they didn't have the support of the majority of BCers on such a large scale issue like Site C? Good grief.

She gets this "stuff" from recycled bong water... Kinda like the waste of energy it takes to make a solar panel......

Having to listen to you the last few months, you telling us that Horgan was pretty much the second coming of Christ and now he's spineless because he favoured the majority of British Columbians? Sad.

It doesn't matter what party is in powe. The project was too far along not to finish. It would've been a 7 billion loss if the project was cancelled.

Hey go big or go home, it would have been a 35 billion dollar loss if it was canceled. LOL!!!!!!!!!!
Consider how hard it is to change yourself and you'll understand what little chance you have of changing others.

That shouldn't surprise you, when it's the NDP that began stalling tactics before even being sworn in, and played a key role in preventing a highway from being relocated, result of which majorly affected the timeline

already you prove everything I have said. The announcement was only a few hours ago and you are already blaming the NDP for the problems with the Liberal site C project.
I have no idea where you get the NDP stalled. It was the liberals who held off and held off on admitting they could not form a government and held up the process. It i s not the NDP that started a project that was to cost 7 billion that only two years in has already swollen to 10.7 billion. With no end in sight.
I knew you would just blame the NDP no matter what but this is just a little to fast off the mark isnt it?

Oh get with the program you can't possibly be this obtuse.

Site C was on budget and on time, right up until the NDP began meddling in it, so if I'm proving anything it's that the NDP should stick to what they know, whatever that might be, because meddling in things they don't understand costs us all money, and blaming it on the Liberals, when the NDP are the cause of setbacks, and cost overruns, simply doesn't cut it.

You have no idea where I got that from that the NDP stalled it???? Well first off Horgan fired off a letter to BC Hydro making demands pertaining to the project before he was even sworn in.
There's also a highway that needs to be moved and the holdup there is also tied to the NDP. That one being a significant setback as the relocation can only be done at very specific times due to the fish involved. Since it wasn't done that's about a year setback right there.

Let those who know what they're doing build the dam, and I'm sure it will fare well.

On the other hand let the clueless meddle in it and you can bet costs will go up.

You haven't spent much time in the world of construction have you?

It kind of works like this, someone wants to build a project so they get an estimate on what it will cost to build it, with conditions written into the contract, as well as what all exactly will be done/provided, and within what reasonable time line.

Two parties agree to terms and project begins, now enter third party who puts hurdles up which affect time line, and/or alters other conditions of original contract, now you can rest assured original estimate is out the window, and with every subsequent hurdle the cost meter keeps ticking.

Simply put you can't change the rules in mid game and not expect some unfavorable consequences.

So once again you go out of your way to prove me correct. As i said it does not matter. You will blame it all on the ndp anyway.

None of the current canadian hydro projects are on time or even close to on budget. Manitoba had to renegotiate after final contracts were set and finalized due to rising costs. The NOT NDP government in Manitoba bragged that the final cost was known then had to go back and renegotiate.
Do you not watch the news? How many of these mega projects ever come in on time or on budget? Very few.
The NDP put in those stress cracks that caused the delay? This is a liberal screwup no matter how you paint it. But thanks again for proving me correct yet again.

The reality is that the liberals get 37-40% of the popular vote and have been getting in due to the ndp and green splitting the rest of the vote. They have had the majority of the seats but it has been a long time since the majority of citizens voted for the liberals. Thats the reality.
If true representative government got in the liberals and probably the ndp as well would never have a majority.

Maybe it is time to go back to a time when bc had representative not first past the post government.

So you want to go back to the early 1950s when the alternative system was used to keep the socialist horde CCF out of power - and instead ushered in the long string of wins for the Socreds?

How come Dave Barrett got elected as an NDP premier? How come Mike Harcourt got elected as an NDP premier? Because they both offered a vision, a way forward for the province - not just "Nooooo" to everything. How come Carole James was able to rebuild the NDP up from just 2 seats? Because she moved the NDP toward the center.

Ah yes, but in all three cases the lunatics and radicals in the party could stand success, and pulled the party back out to the far left fringe. Out came the knives, the back stabbing was horrendous, and the NDP sunk again into the mire.

Horgan just made a real world decision, one based on facts and yes, that icky math stuff. Site C was always a better choice for the people of BC, but the far left and the math challenged windy-solar fad wannabe green followers will never accept that.

Now we get to see how "principled" the likes of looney Lana Popham are. Will she once again sharpen her knives and spring from a dark corner? Or will she instead prefer her undeserved but nice fat salary cabinet job (which is meaningless because she is ignored)?

The far left fringe and the plastic kayak wannabee greens are displaying their true colours. Totalitarianism - the place where the far left and the far right always meet. No compromise, no pragmatism, no prisoners. Already we see some of them on this forum calling for Horgan's head.

Will there be blood in the streets of NDG la-la land over site C?
