Trapping Beaver for their pelts is completely legal in Canada and nessesary for population control.

MJ, how do we know if the dam is needed or not? Having said that, I see no reason to kill these beavers, just trap and relocate them.

This love affair with killing everything in sight from bears, cougars, and now poor little beavers has got to be reigned in. Did you see how many Canadian geese were killed and dumped on the prairies? It's a wildlife slaughter.

They looked into relocating but there are too many beavers around as it is and they are territorial.

Oh right, like the wholesale slaughter of beavers across all of North America for the Hudson Bay Company and the North West Company never helped out Canada.

From the North West Company alone, 20,000 beavers were killed PER year! And that's just one company nevermind the HBC

While McTavish and Frobisher handled Montréal affairs, Alexander Mackenzie led inland expansion. The Athabasca trade was reorganized with a new base, Fort Chipewyan on Lake Athabasca. A far-flung system of canoe brigades, provisioned by pemmican from the plains, furnished transport and brought out up to 20,000 Made Beaver annually. It also gave Mackenzie the support needed to explore the Mackenzie River to its mouth in 1789.

I think we owe beavers at this point.
